I have a cadence x sub 12 I bought on ebay first off. I have been looking at buying a klipsch sub to replace it. I noticed on ebay that some people are selling the klipsch sub 12 amp only. So my question is can I replace the klipsch amp with the cadence amp and use the cadence box providing it fits?
Also I'd like to know in percentage terms how much the amp matters in comparison to the speaker in the sub? Meaning if the klipsch amp is hood to a possible inferior speaker will it sound better, somewhat better, or not better at all. I'm thinking that the cadence has 350 watts not rms, and the klipsch has 400 or 650, probably 400 though.

Replacing the amp designed specifically for a given driver and box is NOT likely to give good results. Subs are designed as a package with each piece designed to get the most out of the rest of the design.
You are placing way too much empahsis on watts. Consider this; the AV123 MFW-15 is a very high performance sub that sells for ~$600. It has a true 350 watt amp and that is all it needs.
Are you saying thats its all about the enclosure and design. I also have klipsch rsw 12 with 700 watts, isn't this sub going to be naturally better because of its high wattage.

Watts by themselves don't tell you much. They are only one third of the equation. The driver and box are the other two thirds.
Your rsw 12 was designed to operate at its best with the 625 watt amp that is built-in.
This has little or nothing to do with your original question.

Another important aspect that hasn't been mentioned is that most plate amps included in commercial subs have some kind of EQ built into them to smooth out the FR. Not knowing what EQ is built into either the Cadence amp or the Klipsch amp there's no way to know what you'll end up with but it probably won't be good.
Also, nearly all amps used in commercial ported subs have a high pass filter to protect the driver below the tuning point. If the cadence is tuned higher than the sub the klipsch amp was designed for the klipsch amp may provide too much power below the tuning point of the cadence and kill the driver.
If you're truly interested in messing around with this kind of stuff maybe it's time to take the red pill :D:
