Please only here if you have actual numbers to report.

Someone has been trying to mislead people, elsewhere on the forum, by repeatedly stating that the C3X1080 produces only 2k CR:eek::eek::eek:

We are now at the stage where its also being inferred that some of the most able people in this forum are incapable of measuring a CR properly.

I'll start the ball rolling on 3 separate calibrated units.

1. 7600
2. 8400
3. 8800

Please keep this thread clear of noise.

Thanks.

Tkx for starting this thread as am looking into getting a C3X1080 and interested in real data.

I am also curious as to the major differences between the CX3 1080 and the Lumis. The CX3 can be had for a good price at the moment (under 25k).

Guys can we PLEASE keep this thread clear, to allow collection of info and to avoid going OT.

There is a ton of info and data on the 1080. The differences to the Lumis are also well reported here.

Feel free to PM me.

Just talked to Jason, most of his were in the mid 7s. The lowest one he measured still came in at a respectable 6800.

Im sure that covers quite a few units

Hi guys:

Per request...

I while back I was asked by Steve Bruonsky to help optimize his PJ placement. In doing so, Steve had his new C3X sent to me and I ran a battery of CR and brightness tests on it. I was looking to see it's range of CR and brightness through it's several options including iris, power and zoom. The tests were done in a controlled fasion and not casually. The test images were projected onto a black velvet "screen", 100% light controlled, dark walled room, so minimal room reflections, at a distance appropriate for the meter in use, well within the meter's more accurate sensitivity and repeatability range. Meter was NIST certified. See the notes at the bottom of the spreadsheet for some more detail. Note the tabs in the spreadsheet have graphs that showed that Sim2's lens and brightness settings were very linear. That means if you are mathematically inclined you can extrapolate the results for any setting or combination of settings given the data in the spreadsheet.

In a nutshell, I read 9019:1 best case to 5123:1 worst case CR. And, note that the worst case was with *everything* set to give the worst effect on CR including zoom, iris, and lamp power.

I would love to have someone have me run the same numbers for their Lumis. PM or email of you have any interest. Excuse the carrot, I will offer a discount on a CineSlide /Isco to anyone to have me "pre-test" their Lumis as I'd like to see a Lumis in person, too, and haven't had any local customers order one yet.

Best,
Scott

Much less if you want to buy mine. I'll even throw in an extra bulb. :D

As Alan said, I found generally they are in the 7-8k range, best mode. That is testing about 6-10 units (I don't remember exactly how many as it was a while ago).
