View Full Version : Apple BT keyboard wont work with my PS3
Thezlog 02-07-09, 12:23 AM I know some posts have been on here but my apple bluetooth wireless wont. The PS3 sync's (pairs) and then I register it. The keyboard wont work online or on a online mmorpg FFXI. Kinda makes me sick that I paid 80 bucks for something that says bluetooth enabled and it wont work. Its the aluminum keyboard.

bassmonkeee 02-07-09, 12:26 AM I don't think Sony has released the BT info necessary to run accessories besides headsets, have they?
That's why every third party has to use a dongle. So, I am, unfortunately, not surprised that the keyboard doesn't work. Sorry to hear that. Can you return it?
Thezlog 02-07-09, 12:31 AM Updates 2.10 and 2.42 should make the apple bt keyboard work but I guess Bluetooth means it wont work till we want it to work.
HDgaming42 02-07-09, 02:26 AM I've successfully used my apple bluetooth keyboard while in HOME...so its possible. Had no problem pairing it.
Thezlog 02-07-09, 01:47 PM Ive paired mine up to but yet it wont work with FFXI the online mmorpg and the internet. Some great new technology we have here. Both the PS3 and Apple wireless BT keyboard. I can see why Sony has said this may be there last console if sales dont pick up and soon.

Source?
Thezlog 02-07-09, 07:27 PM Two sources actually. Worker at Gamestop and worker at Best Buy. It comes as a little bit of a suprise coming from friends who are suppose to put a positive spin on merchandise they sell. The one guy at Best Buy advised I shouldnt buy the HD-DVD addon either for about 2 months when I was ready to pay 149.99 and he actually saved me a hundred bucks. There to hardcore really to not doubt them. Even if you cant see it the 360 and Wii are beating the tar out of the PS3.

Those aren't "sources". Those are third person rumors. What he is asking is when anyone at Sony has been quoted as saying what you claim. Either you or they are just making this up. Sony has never said this.
If you use a usb bluetooth dongle, the apple keyboard seems to work pretty well. I've used it in home and in general chatting/messages. I'm using the logitech bluetooth dongle.

? ? My Logitech Mediaboard Pro (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/keyboards/devices/3616&cl=us,en) works via Bluetooth without a dongle..

i had no problems with my apple (alu) bt keyboard either. pairing was painless and typing is sooooo much quicker than either the controller or the controller-mounted mini-keyboard.

There is no such thing. They worked from day one. I used one for a while, but now I use a wireless one with a dongle. Battery lasts much longer this way.

Link for the dongle? Google search didn't pull up a clear choice. I'd like to use my Apple keyboard instead of buying a second one.

My bad. I was under the impression that the limits on creating a blutooth game controller would apply to the keyboards, too. But, considering blutooth headsets work fine, I should have known better.
Sunkist 02-24-09, 05:44 PM I have used my logitech mouse and keyboard paired through the bluetooth and they worked fine when I got it just after launch might just be an odd problem with that one keyboard.
mbrodie617 02-25-09, 11:28 AM My rocketfish BT mouse and keyboard work fine without any dongle. The only hassle is pairing them both each time I turn on my PS3. As for the keyboard not working in a particular game, does the game even support it?
