I have a Velodyne CT-100 right now. I am looking at getting a new sub that extends lower (at least 20Hz) and is great for music and good for HT.

The room is 17'x15'x8'. Its an old house so the Velo already shakes the paintings while watching Hot Fuzz.

Price range is about $700 shipped. I have been reading around and have narrowed it down to

Hsu VTF3.3 or VTF2.3
SVS SB12 plus
Epik Valor
Outlaw LFM-1 Plus or ex.

The sub needs to be reasonable in size for WAF. Any other options help too. I ordered a subdude to isolate the sub from the floor to see if the velodyne tightens up and reduces resonance from the floor. So a downward firing sub might pose problems with isolation. Since the house is older I'd like to reduce some of the wall shaking.

Your advice is appreciated.

i had a ct120 for a bit (12" version of yours) and that sub was weak as hell. any of the subs you listed are going to rock your house like you have never heard before. i'd go with the svs for price, hsu 2nd choice.

I think the PB10-NSD and the PB12-nsd also look like they will work. How do they compare to the SB12-plus for music? They seem to go lower.

If I am considering the Outlaw LFM-1 plus or EX since they have an amazing deal right now. Which would I need for my room? I think the LFM-1 plus should work.

The SVS SB-12 Plus doesn't belong in the same group as the othes. You won't get extension below 20 Hz with the sealed SB-12 Plus.

Right this moment the Outlaw LFM-1 EX is a steal at $519 delivered. The plexiglass top should help you with the WAF.

As long as you are going to spend this much money you ought to get something that is much better than what you already have.

Don't forget the Outlaw sale is ending in about 24 hours. Place your order on-line if there is no one on the phones. They will get the sub to you in about 45 days.

Thanks spyboy. I am seriously considering the LFM-1 EX. The price is very enticing. However, I don't want rush just because the deal will timeout.

How is the LFM-1 EX for music? I weight music higher than HT and want something that is tight and clean for music.

Should I be looking for something like the Rythmik F12? If the LFM-1 is really good for music I'll pull the trigger before the deal expires.

OK. I pulled the trigger on the LFM-1 EX.

I am still torn between that and the Rythmik F12. The Rythmik seems to get good reviews for sound quality especially for music. Sound quality for music is very important to me.

If anyone who has heard the LFM1 or HSU VTF series and the Rythmik can tell me what the difference is like for music I'd really appreciate it.

Anyone have any input on the LFM-1 EX for music?
