Hi, in a nutshell, what are the true benefits of connecting the speakers to the sub instead of the amp? I have a pretty basic set-up. 2 ch HK 3490, two subs, four towers. Now, the speakers are connected to the amp and the subs are connected to the sub-out of the 3490. I'm satisfied right now with the sound but would this other connexion enhance the sound?

Only if you think the crossover in the sub will be better than the one in the HK. Frankly, I doubt it.
