I am in the middle of redoing possibly my entire home theater setup. First off let me say that all my equipment is in storage as I am unfortunately living in a temporary setup. The only kicker is that I probably don't know if I am moving into an apartment or a home after this so I am just building my new setup based on wants/desires... not room size (since that is unknown).

For reference here is my basic setup now that I am changing (so you can see what I am coming from)

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V2500
Center: Polk Audio CS2
Fronts: B&W 602 s3
Sides: Infinity Interlude IL10
Rears: Infinity Interlude IL10
Sub: Velodyne CT-120

Because of where I work (Best Buy) I am trying to limit stuff from there because of the extreme discounts. Here is my future (planned) setup

Receiver: Yamaha RX-Z7
Center: Definitive Technology C/L/R 2300
Fronts: Definitive Technology BP7002
Sides: Definitive Technology BP1X
Rears: Definitive Technology BP1X
Sub: This is where I need your input

I was planning on getting the Definitive Technology SuperCube I but for the same cost I can get the HSU VTF-3 MK3, SB-12 Plus or MFW-15. Between those subs which will be the most "flexible" with movies and basically all types of music, but at the same point won't be "too small" to fill any "normal" room size incase I get into a house that has a good sized room? My main thing I am after is the ability to get loud (if I am in the mood) but at the same point I want great sound and flexibility.

I would really like to keep my B&W's but don't know where they could be worked in effectively... I would like suggestions on that as well. Again, I am not saying Def Tech is the best but with what I can get them for I can't pass them up. I have done professional Bass competitions in the car audio world for over 9 years and I am a bass nut... I have my car for ridiculous amounts of bass... I want my home theater for accuracy but at the same point I want to be able to crank on it and it get "loud". I am trying to stay around the $600(ish) range for the sub since I get the SC1 for $609. Thanks

Since you really want loud, you can get the Outlaw LFM-1 EX for $519 delivered. They are taking orders for about another few hours. You would have to wait about 45 days for delivery.

The EX is very similar to the HSU 3.3 which costs $730. Save $210 (compared to the HSU 3.3).

You have to act quickly if you want to get in on the sale. There is still time.

Here is where you place your order:

Read about this sub... not too sure I like what I read. The review shows the HSU 3.3 as a better sub.

Found the review.... sound and vision said,

"The LFM-1EX is a true rock 'n' roll subwoofer. It plays loud and it goes fairly deep. At moderate frequencies and levels, its tonal quality is very good. But when pushed, it starts to reveal the stress. The tonal balance is somewhat unusual -- although the lower bass is there, the sound seems much sweeter in the upper bass. At the highest levels, cabinet resonances can be pronounced. The Outlaw handled LFE movie tracks nicely, with enough power to rattle the room and enough detail to articulate bass impact, as long as it wasn't pushed into overload. It also bears noting that the LFM-1EX was our dollars-per-dB champ."

HSU 3.3

"The VTF-3 MK3 Turbo is the total subwoofer package, packing solid bass extension, strong, clean output, snappy dynamics, and smooth tonal response. It sounds equally good on music, where its refined performance shines, and on movies, where it kicks butt like Chuck Norris. It has its limits, but it was the most convincing high-output deep-bass performer in this group, thanks in part to the Turbocharger extension ports, which are the real deal. Plus, the Turbo just looks so cool. If you want the police knocking on your door, this is the sub for you."

How often do you expect to push a sub the size of the EX to the limit? That's where the reviewer heard a difference.

Don't forget the 3.3 was tested using the Turbo which is no longer available. People are buying the Outlaws in droves.

Finally remember the EX was dollars-per-db champ.

The review of the EX reminds me of some tests that say the SVS SB-12 Plus isn't of much use below 32 Hz. Lots of owners disagree.

When I am home alone I frequently turned the system up well above reference levels. I listen to a lot of rap music... but then mix everything in. I am the type of person that listens to everything but always have the urge to crank it up quire frequently :D I was reading a few reviews about the HSU 3.3 and a few people said they didn't even hear a difference with the Turbo vs. without. Taking price out of it... which of them is "better" in your opinion, and why? Thanks for the help and taking the time

Since you work at Bestbuy, why not two Klipsch Sub12's? Given your employee discount, you could probobly get a pair for less than One of the forementioned subs....and the Sub12 is a very good sub IMO.
