I think if there is an EMP event I have much more to worry about. What a party pooper, eh? ;)

Carry on...have some fun with it. :D

...wouldnt it be nice to still be able to watch some movies after an EMP disruption?

Hell yeah! Sit down with the family one last time and watch the "Planet Earth" series in High-def one last time (laughing at the "good old days"). The popcorn may be a little burnt though.

The electric grid would be destroyed so what good is protected equipment without power?

would have been fine if the room they were in was treated with some aluminum foil and plastic bags.

...also, hiding under you desk will protect you from a nuclear blast ;)

had it happened today i would assume there would have been many very unhappy people who would be shopping for new computers, LCD tvs, stereos, alarm clocks, cell phones and perhaps much more.

Why would I be unhappy about that? Shopping for new gear is fun. I'd view it as a major upgrade opportunity. I'm sure the government would bail us out, and if not, that's what I have homeowner's insurance for (I better check for EMP clauses though). I think I might be envious if all my neighbors were getting the latest greatest stuff when I went to all that trouble and expense (and making my house look really weird) just to get stuck with my old stuff.

Do the surge protector warranties cover EMP?;)

I should buy some cable lifters. I hear they protect your speakers from EMP.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to have some fun discussing how to protect their gear from an EMP?

With the thousands of dollars some have invested in it wouldnt it be nice to still be able to watch some movies after an EMP disruption?

I dont really know anything but... i figure if you have your equipment in a basement and fully wrap the room with a 4 layer of foil and plastic would be a good start to i guess what they call a faraday cage. But what to do to protect it from the actual electric lines coming through the wall? Besides leaving the stuff unplugged.

What do you all think?

onto the fun? maybe? :)

Just keep an axe handy and cut those lines in case of emergency. The axe worked just fine in the movie Transformers so it will work for you!
