Bought this TV 4 years ago at Best Buy for way too many $$$. Luckily I purchased a 4-year extended warranty for $399.

Life was good until about a year ago when the TV did the flashing light thing and the first repair revealed bad caps inside the ebox.

Shortly before the extended warranty expired, more flashing green timer light issues started. In addition, strange partial video noise spots randomly appeared on various spots of the screen.

Called Best Buy for the 2nd "under warranty" repair. The excellent technician took the ebox to the shop for what ended up being am ebox overhaul. Same technician returned, re-installed the ebox...same problem with the weird video noise.

Repair shop called the next day and sent a delivery truck to pick up the entire TV for another warranty repair. TV is now "officially" out of warranty, but is in the shop for the original repair.

One last thing: the actual picture is slight tilted by a few degrees. The technician manually "lifted" the lamp engine which totally leveled out the display. However he did not see any mechanism to permanently keep the display/image level. He had no idea how to keep the lamp engine level. It seemed to be hanging with a slight tilt.

Thanks to all for reading up to this point. I've read alot about these 1st generation Mitsubishi DLPs and their problems.

What should I do before accepting the TV back?

Should I travel to the shop and insist on seeing the TV working properly before accepting delivery?

Should I just cut my losses, advertise on craigslist and have the serviced TV delivered to a worthy charity?

The technician hinted that the repair might be too costly and that I might get "bought out." Any truth to that?

Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
