I am in the process of building an HT and selecting speakers/electronics for a large 5.1 HT.
But an on going dilemma with my stepdad on how we should do the surrounds can only be solved if we can find a ceiling mount that meets both our needs. He wants the speakers in the ceiling so it does not get in the way when people are over. I want the surrounds to be monitors and about head level.
So I tried to do a little googling but cannot find what I am looking for. I want something to mount the speakers too (say average sized monitors about 20lb) that can drop out from the ceiling and pivot both vertical and horizontally. This will allow us to adjust the speaker as we please without any fixed direction or height.
It does not need to be a single item. If there is a telescope ceiling mount that can drop out from ceiling to about 5 feet, we can then attach a separate pivot with the speaker mounted to it. But we really need an in ceiling drop out poll that extend about 5 feet and close up almost completely into the ceiling.
