Ok, I been through a couple of these DLP light bulbs already. This is the question: Surely there is a source, be it China, whomever where we can get JUST the flash bulb without the housing, and do a much cheaper replacement than by being forced to buying these modular lamps at $200 + or minus.

Anyone have such a source for a simple, raw lamp bulb? Screw the housing and the retail cost is what I say.

eBay, Amazon, Vanns, River Valley, etc. have just the bulbs available.

How did you know for sure the bulb was correct for your model DLP? I've been to several sites looking for a bare bulb for the 72HM195 Toshiba, and so far there only seems to be one bulb a available, with no disclaimer that it IS or IS NOT universal and would work for my 72".

you can try to get a bare bulp in http://www.projectorlampsworld.com. they have bare bulbs for the must of the models
