Hi everyone. Firstly, this forum is awesome.

I acquired an old Sanyo Plv-Z1 for $0. I had planned to start a theater in my home at one point, but the acquisition of this projector has just ballooned into a full fledged project.

I called it The Narrows because like the narrows in Gotham City, my theater will not have much money in it, and it is quite small, and not ideal. Homemade/creative solutions are a must.

Here are the plans:
Measurements are approximate.

And here are some photos of the room:
(The screen has been enhanced in photoshop in this shot. (Yes, that is a bed sheet))

At this point the walls and ceiling from the beam to the front wall are being covered with the same carpet that is on the floor for light absorbtion (and acoustics?). I plan to place carpet a third of the way up in the rest of the room.

I plan to have the screen hinged on one side so it can swivel to allow access to the closet that will be behind the screen. I hope to have material under the screen to hide the mid channel and sub. This space also doubles as a recording booth. The window to the right of the screen opens to another room with a computer setup. The window on the opposite side can be covered permanently.

My biggest hurtle is the rear of the room. There is an a/c unit in the closet, and a very narrow space for the rear seating. My idea at the moment is to mount the rear speakers some what high above ear level of the rear row and point them towards the center of the front row. Please if anyone has any better ideas for this let me know. Also as you can see in the plans, I plan to have the left and right front channels closer than the center in order to get wider separation. Is this a good idea? Also any good (cheap?) ideas for keeping the noise from the a/c out would be appreciated.

The room height is 7' and my screen will be 90" diagonal. I plan to upgrade to the Sharp dt-510 in the next few months.

The equipment that I hope to get(alternative suggestions welcomed):
Sharp dt-510
Onkyo TX-SR506
Front: Energy c100
Center: Energy cc50
Rears: Energy c50
Sub:?

Currently I have a pc with blu-ray and DVI and spdif out. I will stick with this. I have also bought black out cloth to construct my screen.

I went ahead and took a photo of the seating I acquired over the weekend. A gracious friend donated them to my cause.

My equipment "stack" from a silent auction of goods at my church donated by walmart.

I'll take photos of the carpeting once I get it all up and decide on a "trim" to cover the edges.

I'm disparate for suggestions for the back of the room. Is my idea for rear speaker placement the best I can do? Is there anyway to cut down on noise from the a/c?

Here is a mock up of how I intend to construct the screen and speaker covering. The screen will have the covering as support when in place.

Exploded view. I'm not sure what to use for the black material surrounding the screen yet.

Does anyone know of a good place to purchase speaker cloth in a quantity that would suffice for the bottom portion?

Ok to date I have made several equipment purchases.

Harman-Kardon AVR 247
Energy C-100 x2
Energy CC50

Also I have decided to build an equipment rack/shelving in the back window. This will allow me to move my seating forward a bit and have some room behind for the surround speakers.
