Trying to resolve a problem here - I've made several Maxell DVD+R copies of VHS tapes on this unit. They all play great on the LG but none of them play on any other DVD units.

Can anyone help me with trying to fix this?

I've received Maxell DVD+R's from other people that play perfectly well on this LG VCR/DVD combo...but none of the DVD's I've made work on their units or my computer.

You have to Finalize them in the LG, prob. in a Disc Edit or Disc Setup menu... something like that.

I was thinking the same thing, make sure the disks are finalised. :)

Thanks for help, it worked. The manual isn't very clear on how to do this.

Anyway, the problem I have now is that after dubbing a DVD and adding chapter markers, it isn't recognized when playing on other units. It reverts back to the 10-minute intervals even though I already deleted those when editing the DVD+R.

Does anyone have any ideas on fixing this? Really sucks when dubbing music DVD's.

I've read around to try selecting chapter markers as the DVD is recording, but the system doesn't respond to it. Viewing my chapter markers works great when watching on the LG unit, but very annoyning when playing on other systems.

Seems the units that allow things like chapter marks to be added directly to DVD (other than RAM discs) are really only usable on the machine type that recorded it.
Your best bet would be a DVDR with a HDD. You copy your info to the HDD, then add chapter marks and such, then burn high speed lossless to a standard DVD. In this case any player will read the edits.
Most DVDRs without a HDD will not let you even add your own chapters on a standard DVD, at least you have some flexibility.
