I'm looking to mount a 22" HDTV on my bathroom wall above the soak tub. The master bathroom butts-up to unfinished space above the garage which gives me terrific access. I'd like to also connect the TV to a DVR which I'm planning to locate under the sink. I can run the electrical there assuming that isn't a code violation. The challenge is to use some sort of conduit to connect the under-the-sink stuff where the DVR will sit (RCA audio cable, VGA (DSUB) or HDMI, and a USB line for the remote) to the TV. The distance is probably a good 12-15 ft.

I found products like this:

From monoprice dot com (I can't post a url until I have more than 3 posts but go there, then to the HOME > NETWORKING > Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate section to see more ideas. The problem with something like that is that it isn't a sealed run. Since the cables will need to pass through unfinished space, cold air infiltration, bugs, etc. make this less than ideal.

I have been reading that many on these forums recommend using 2" PVC piping as conduit. Do people literally have a 2" circular pipe coming out of the wall at each end or are there more aesthetically pleasing "caps" for these sorts of things? Can someone recommend something totally different solution for my application?

Thanks!

Perhaps you could use some sort of flexible tubing with those plates. Cut your holes for the plates then slide the tubing down the top hole and pull it through at the bottom. Cut so that there is just a little bit of slack, then seal the tubing to the inside of the plates with some sort of glue. You would have to find some tubing that is close to the inner diameter of course, which might prove this idea to be pointless.

I was hoping for something available in a store somewhere so that it looks nice... guess there aren't many options.

Sorry, I'm in cheap, creative solution mode at the moment with my own setup. If I'm understanding correctly then you wouldn't even see the tubing.

I guess you're right about that... suppose I can just duct tape them into the plates. Thanks for the idea!

No problem, I'm glad I'm of some use on this forum, hah!
