I have a modest HT setup using a 7.1 Sony receiver. Right now i use a standard klipsch subwoofer connected to the receiver (LFE 1/4" jack I think).

I am interested in adding a couple bass shakers on my seat platform or under my couch. I do have a few extra 2-channel stereo receivers lying around so would like to use them if it makes sense to.

So what is the recommended way to wire 2 bass shakers to my setup? Specifically, what inputs/jacks do I connect everything to? Do i somehow connect the single LFE output from my HT receiver to one of the extra amps i have? To what input on the amp? Then how do i wire the bass shakers to the extra amp?

Should i be using some of these extra amps i have with my existing sub anyway (for better power balancing?).

Thanks alot!

It would be helpful to list specific equipment, especially model #'s of the Sony receiver, the stereo receivers, the bass shakers you are considering and your subwoofer.

Thanks for the reply

Its a Sony STR-DE997 7.1-Channel Audio/Video Receiver (120 Watts x 7). I have 7.1 speakers connected (2 floorstanding mains, one center channel, and L/R, Surround L/R ceiling speakers. I use a klipsch powered subwoofer connected to the LFE output of the receiver. Its on old model about 14"x14"x14" in size.

I do not have the basshakers yet because i am learning about them and what will work for me. Suggestions on them would be helpful too. AGain what is a good budget way of doing this? We mostly watch Blu Ray movies and games on a 106" 1080P screen.

I have an elevated rear seating stage with a loveseat and a front loveseat too. I think i would install a piece of plywood to the underside of each loveseat and then screw the bass shaker to it. Budget is a concern so i am looking for two (or more) bass shakers and would like to utilize my old stereo amps for value if i can. I have an unused Onkyo 5.1 receiver and a few 2-channel receivers (Sherwood, Sony) that could power the shakers (and/or sub) if that works.

Any advice, suggestions, recommendations? Where is a good source for the shakers? Make and models? Do i use RG6 cable for the runs to them or speaker cable?
