O.K. as mentioned I have ordered my meager system and have just taken ownership of a 806 Reciever, the thing is massive.

I also have a 46" Aquous and FIOS HD.

PS3

I am still waiting on the PA-6F Speaker system to arrive, this is were IM running into issues.

I have all of the connections made that I can make thus far:
PS3 HDMI Out to Receiver HDMI In
Speaker wires routed, bundled and Banana Plugs installed and plugged in at the Receiver end
FM Antenna Wire run
Source Power Cords Bundled and neatly routed away from Speaker wire bundle

All I need to do (I think) is to Feed HDMI output from my HD/DVR box to the receiver then using the HDMI out from the receiver to the HDMI in of my TV (These are already run through the walls awaiting final hook up).

My issue is that I really didn't want to turn this thing on yet until I have my PA-6F system in, which won't be for another week or so figuring it will be hard enough to run through the set up without having missing components and having to re-do things. Yet now I discover I still have a pair of OLD Bose Series II 201's. I was wondering, could I temporarily hook these up to the Frt. L/R just to get a listen to this receiver? and possibly make the final switch to using the receiver as the Hub of the system? As it stands now I still have the HD/DVR box piped to the TV, I'd like to finalize this connection using the receiver and wonder if I use the BOSE to just test the system will I screw anything up? Or should I just wait for the speakers to come in?

I know people hate Bose, these were bought by my Folks when I was in HS so I had no input or knowledge of how good/bad they were, could they fit into making my 5.1 system, a 7.1 system?

Thanks, sorry for the disjointed ramblings, I'm like a kid at Christmas and want to play with my new toys.

Shouldn't screw anything up at all. I for one love BOSE. I say play away!

Leaving aside the quality (or lack thereof) of the Bose speakers, as long as they can be connected to the receiver, you shouldn't "screw up" anything. Hook them up as you would any others and fire it up.

The older Bose speakers, including the 201, actually have a very good reputation. Its the Acoustimass stuff that really irritates people (price & performance).

Cool, I don't plan on using these Bose Speakers (Perhaps later down the road as a 7.1 Set Up, Pro's/Con's) but am so damn anxious to fire the Beast up that I'm trying hard not to screw anything up, LOL...

I believe the 806 will allow me to specify If I want the HDMI out to TV to use either the TV speakers for Audio or the Speakers hooked up to the receiver for audio? Or do I need to run a Optical from the HD/DVR box to the TV (Already run in the wall) in order to switch between using the TV speakers (For TV viewing) or the PA6F's for all other listening pleasures?

Argh.....
