I have a general question about turning on a just-delivered dlp rptv. I have one coming by truck in a few days. The forecast in MA is for highs in the mid-30's. They will bring it in and unpack it. Should I plug it in and turn it on while the truckers are still there, or is it safer to wait for the unit to warm up to room temperature for a day? Obviously it would be good to check it out before I accept delivery, but I don't want to damage it with thermal stress.

I would NOT turn it on for several hours. I would inspect it for any physical defects and if there were none, send the guy on his way. Very cold electronics moved into a warm area can have condensation form on/in them. Turning on electronics with moisture on them can result in shorting something out.

Not worth it IMO...

That makes sense. Thanks, Roger.
