First,I'd like to mention that I'm a new member to this site and I'M in great need of an educated opinion on setting up my First Home theather system.

I've never experienced the great benefits of having a good surround sound.i've been content of simply watching movies or listening to music with no speakers attached to my components. I currently have a Samsung 550 40" ,Samsung Bluray player,a ps3,hd cable recorder and my newly acquired receiver, the pioneer Vsx1018k.All components hooked through HDMI.Considering i'm a newbie at setting up a HTS,i dont know where to look for speakers.Clarity over loudness is my main concern.I was told Polk speakers would be a good addition to what i got right now. They currently being sold at very good price, my limited budget is indeed a factor. Can you please tell me if the POlk Rm6750 would match well with the pioneer 1018k?I've never had surround sound before and i'm looking for speakers that could compliment well my home theather system.

Therefore, Are the Polk Rm6750 Speakers a good entry selection for someone like me who never had the joy nor the luxury of having surround sound before? again, my goal here is to focus more on clarity than loudness, Can any of you give me your well appreciated opinion on this? thanks to all of you.

Ok. Polk is a well regarded brand. Having said that, the Pio is overkill for this setup. Subwoofer is nothing to brag about. Overall response is down to only 40Hz (and probably not much power there). You should probably move up the food chain in the speaker department like the RM6880 or something similar even if it means going down the chain in the receiver department.

So in other words, I have no choice to upgrade to higher end speakers because of the type of receiver i got? Can i not benefit from the same sound clarity Dolby HD offers with decent speakers like what i've mentionned? By getting lower end speakers, am i losing out that much? I read great reviews on the Polk RM6750, however if they're not suitable and wont allow me to discover what true HD sound is, i guess i got no choice but to upgrade. I never had surround sound before, i simply thought, like any beginner, that any decent speaker would be adequate. Am i that wrong in my thinking here?

The speakers are THE most important choice for sound quality in any system. You have a great amp already and while the speakers aren't fantastic, they will probably sound good to you but you could do so much better by just kicking up a level. If you get the RM6750 you will probably want to upgrade in a year or so. Why not spend the money once?

As a father of three teenagers I understand all too well. If you don't think you will be listening at overly loud levels being in an apt the RM6750 could do you for a while until you are more flush but you will want to upgrade at some point. Its not my money its yours so if you are in a corner then go for it.
