I recently got a 52" Samsung LCD TV so I moved the Hitachi 57S700 rear projection into the game room upstairs. However, when I connected my secondary HTPC to it, the overscan cuts off about an inch on each side of the screen. I tried looking in the TV manual as well as the ATI CCC, but cannot find any settings to disable the overscan or realign the screen. Please help me fix this!
Type of card: Sapphire HD4870X2
Type of TV: Hitachi Ultravision 57S700 rear projection
Type of connection: DVI
Driver Version: Catalyst 9.1
Desired resolution: 1080i
Operating System: Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
Other: Noticed that monitor type in Display Settings -> Advanced Settings show that I am using a generic PnP monitor but ATI CCC accurately detects it as a Hitachi. I have read the forums but cannot find any scaling options. Does this not apply for DVI interface?

Assuming you have a current driver from the ATI website installed there is available in the CCC a slider for overscan compensation slider which is defaulted I believe to 15% you need to increase it to a higher value of underscan.

According to ATI that is only for HDMI

What interface are you using? Does your TV support a PC VGA interface? If yes it most likely does not overscan using it since PC monitor do not overscan like tratitioa CRT TVs do
AFAIK ATI overscan compensation is also available at least for DVI if not also for yPrPb component

I have been unable to find the actual specs for your 2003-2004 model CRT HDTV in order to find out if it has 9"guns and can actually scan at 1080i instead of just downscaling 1080i input to 480i for display.

Does it's user manual explain how to switch it's scan mode from 480i to 1080i?
I ask since AFAIK the Hitachi 1080i Hi-scan models enabled the user to select which scan rate to use.

It just says push aspect button?

And what happens when you push the aspect button while sending it 1080i over DVI?
With an little more research It appears that all Hitachi 1080i RPTVs state in their description that they use 1080i technology and that all scanning is done at 1080i regardless of the resolution of the input. It also appears that these sets began to appear on the market in 2004 or 2005.

Please answer the question about what happens if you change aspect ratio?
I believe that your TV only scans at 480i and therfore all higher resolutions are downscaled to 480p and then displayed at 480i unless your TV is only a couple of years old and the user's manual states it uses 1080i technology.
