Hi folks,

I’ve been fortunate enough to have just picked up an elderly G70 (spares for my existing one) with what appear to be aluminium cased lenses (rather than the plastic cased ones more usually found).
Are they interchangeable? Same fittings / focal length etc.? Are the elements plastic or glass?

Sounds like you got the VR version of the set with (apparently) better lenses. Mind you, the last VR I got in had the stock plastic lenses on it.

Nope - they're not HD134 - These appear to be metal all the way whereas the 134 appears to have metal at the front and plastic behind. Also there are no finger groves around the front edge. I'll take some photos over the weekend - the G70's still in the car until it stops snowing long enough for me to get it indoors! :rolleyes:

Dunno yet - it's still in the boot - sorry - trunk of the car. I've been waiting for a gap in the snow to get it indoors. More tomorrow...

You may have the earliest of the HD8 lens' I think those were all metal. Unless they are the Quail lens. look ont he all about lens thread on Curts site. I think MadMrH oput up the pics for those two lens's

Well - I guess an all ally HD18 does exist! - The question remains - are the elements glass or plastic? Will these outperform the plastics?
