Hi, I just registered here for the first time, but I have read these forums many times and have found much useful information. My question is regarding bulb life. I ordered a Toshiba 56HM195 (56" DLP) approximately 2 years ago (when they were really expensive). I watch a substantial amount of TV. If I would have done my research ahead of time, I would have realised that this line of DLP's are notorious for quick bulb burnouts. I got a bulb replaced under warranty about a year after I got the TV, then had another replaced out of pocket about 8 months after that (got a good deal on ebay for 115 shipped).

Anyway, that aside, I recently re-arranged my living room and the TV is now basically blocking a window. I keep that window cracked because it gets really hot in my apartment (free heat). I live in Ohio, and the cool air from outside is blowing directly on the back of the TV. There is also a big intake fan on the back of the unit that I'm guessing is used to cool the light bulb or other vital circuitry.

Does anyone know if having that extra stream of cool air blowing on the lightbulb will amount to a noticeable difference in bulb life? Or does the bulb stay sufficiently cool enough on its own? Just a curious question more than anything...thanks to anyone who read.
