My sister just got a new WD-73735 and when I was looking at the screen, I noticed what looked like two or three specks of dirt but they wouldn't wipe off. I looked at several sets in two circuit citys and half of them had the same problem. Does anyone know what this debris is and how to remove it? Is it behind the screen or somewhere else?

I got rid of them by taking a wool sock rubbing it on a carpet so it built up some static electricity and rubbed it over the spots. This is because samsung had a 2 piece screen and it looked like smudges.
I dont know if this is the same problem you have but I found the fix on the internet tried it and it worked even though it sounded silly at the time.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that. It's the strangest thing though. I just stopped by another Best Buy today and looked at a 60735 and it had the same issue with the screen, a small dark spot near the top of the screen. I asked one of the girls that works there and she said it was probably a defective screen. I told her I saw the same problem on several other sets and she didn't have an answer.

Hi Bruce,
The problem you are experiencing is due to a static build-up between the two layers of the screen. Rubbing a wool cloth on the carpet and then across the spot will disipate the static charge and allow the panels to return to normal.
I also recommend you pick up an AC filtration unit to prevent this from occuring again.

A.C. filtration has nothing to do with static on the screen. The problem is likely not between the screens. It is usually debris on the back of the screen and when you affect the static charge it can drop away. It can be dust, or small bits of plastic from the manufacture of the chassis. I have seen some screens with a dust between the two layers that collects with static but not in these sets. It is almost always behind the screen.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will stop by my sisters this weekend and try the wool sock thing. Will this be ok to rub on the screen though? I've been using a microfiber cloth on the screen so far. It does a great job of cleaning the screen but can't remove those two dirt spots.
