Hey everybody, I'm new here. Woo.
Anyways, I have a dilemma in my preferred speaker system setup.
I currently am using 2 B2031Ps and two random Philips speakers that I don't plan on keeping too long. I have them hooked up to an ancient Pioneer VSX-9500s. This is nice because that can handle two sets of mains, but I want to add a subwoofer or two and the reciever has no dedicated LFE or sub output. Right now I have my music heavily EQ'd to get an adequate bass response and I would prefer that I wouldn't have to do that.
Now I plan on having a cheapish but good sounding setup in the end so I was thinking of accompanying my B2031Ps with a B2029 or two because they are supposed to compliment my mains well. The only problem with that is that the B2031Ps run off of speaker wire and the B2029s run off XLR inputs.
This is where my plan gets messy. Because of the different connection types, I am thinking of running the pre-out on my reciever to a crossover like a (Behringer, any alternate suggestions?) CX3400. There I would seperate the two bass channels and get a phono to XLR adaptor and feed that to the B2029s. I would take the high passed channels and feed them back into the reciever and run my mains like normal.
Is this crazy enough to work or not? Does anybody have any alternate suggestions that are both affordable and sound good?
