Or is it just for xbox gaming? Thanks!! Ripeer 02-14-09, 01:40 PM Its for alot of things but net is not one of them. It has a "marketplace" That inlcudes videos, movies, tv shows. trailers Games, demo/trial/beta Arcade and Orginal and XNA games. Straybeat 02-14-09, 02:54 PM Sorry if this is a newb question, but I was just wondering can you browse the internet when using xbox live? Or is it just for xbox gaming? Thanks!! Google around for the MCE Browser, it's getting hard to find for some reason. Then find one of the tutorials on Youtube for setting it up. It's a little tricky and if you don't have one of the Xbox keyboards entering text takes awhile to learn. But you CAN browse the net after setting it all up. Ripeer 02-14-09, 04:27 PM We may both had misunderstood your question!? You can still use the internet on your laptop/desktop while on live. Straybeat 02-14-09, 04:49 PM We may both had misunderstood your question!? You can still use the internet on your laptop/desktop while on live. You may be right, I thought he was asking if you can surf with an Xbox. tvbuyerquestions 02-15-09, 12:38 AM Yeah, I meant surf the net (from the Xbox). Like if there was a homepage you could go to and then surf from there. So I guess the answer is NO? vancouver 02-15-09, 12:42 AM the answer is no.. Straybeat 02-15-09, 03:39 AM the answer is no.. Yes, see MCE Browser above. :D tvbuyerquestions 02-16-09, 09:42 AM Yes, see MCE Browser above. :D I found the MCE Browser, but apparently it only works with Windows Media Center? Is this true? I only have XP, is there anyway to get it to work with XP? Straybeat 02-16-09, 10:57 AM I found the MCE Browser, but apparently it only works with Windows Media Center? Is this true? I only have XP, is there anyway to get it to work with XP? Oops, I forgot about that part as I have been running Vista for awhile now. I know the wife's XP Home with SP2 works alright with it. There is a Media Center download available on the net to add to XP, but that would be another Google search. When I was still running XP I had to find it for installing a few things. So what you want is quite doable, it will just take time. Mark tvbuyerquestions 02-16-09, 11:34 AM Oops, I forgot about that part as I have been running Vista for awhile now. I am having trouble finding a free Media Center download for XP. All I get is Microsoft links telling me to buy/download Vista. Does anyone have a link to the free Media Center download? formulanerd 02-16-09, 12:30 PM Thanks! I am having trouble finding a free Media Center download for XP. All I get is Microsoft links telling me to buy/download Vista. Does anyone have a link to the free Media Center download? no, you need XP Media Center Edition, and you'll have to re-install the operating system on your computer. vista home premium and vista ultimate will work as well. fjtorres 02-16-09, 03:33 PM Thanks! I am having trouble finding a free Media Center download for XP. All I get is Microsoft links telling me to buy/download Vista. Does anyone have a link to the free Media Center download? There is no such thing. Not legally. Media Center isn't like Media Player; its (like Tablet PC) a variant OS release instead of a separate app. If they released it separately they'd probably get sued right away. kinggabbo 02-17-09, 10:40 AM Well, I've been reading this thread and decided to try the MCE browser. I had a copy of Vista so I installed it and then installed the MCE browser. Awesome!!! A little clunky but it gets the job done. I will play with it more tonight. May need to upgrade RAM on my PC soon though. RTRic 02-18-09, 05:04 AM Anyone know if MCE browser works with Windows 7 beta? Could be a free alternative for folks running XP. Straybeat 02-18-09, 10:39 AM Anyone know if MCE browser works with Windows 7 beta? Could be a free alternative for folks running XP. Yes it does, I played with it a little before I put Vista back on. RTRic 02-19-09, 03:20 AM Yes it does, I played with it a little before I put Vista back on. Cool then that would be cheaper than getting Vista for the time being to people who don't have Media Center XP. Ripeer 02-19-09, 10:51 AM Cool then that would be cheaper than getting Vista for the time being to people who don't have Media Center XP. and possibly a better anwser for there computer in the long run if 7 lives up to the hype tvbuyerquestions 02-19-09, 05:40 PM Anyone know where to get the Windows 7 Beta download from? I've searched the net, but this is all I came up with: We're sorry, Windows 7 Beta downloads are no longer available. formulanerd 02-20-09, 12:37 AM Anyone know where to get the Windows 7 Beta download from? I've searched the net, but this is all I came up with: the beta is (officially) closed... however, you can find the ISO all over the web, and out of all the keys they handed out, only 15 or so were "unique" (meaning, everyone is using the same keys), a google search will definitely point you in the right direction |
