My ATT-Uverse remote stops working from a distance of about 6 ft. after about an hour or so of use. But when the remote is 4 inches from the infrared on the ATT-Uverse satellite receiver it then begins to work properly. What the heck is the problem? ATT service man are baffled. They have suggested to move the receiver 5ft from the TV. The service man's theory was that the TV's infrared was interfering so we tested the idea of turning the TV off and then inputting the "on and off" on the remote from 6 ft to see if it would recognize it and it did.

I'm not replacing the TV which is 6wks old and a Sharp Aquos 37" LC-37D64U. I'm not cancelling ATT service cause I've got the bundle package. I need to solve this problem. Can anyone help me?

Put a piece of black electrical tape over the IR sensor on the satellite receiver with a small hole in the center (about the size of the tip of a pen).
