Hello,
I had a tech come out this past Friday and replace the light engine on my Sammy HLS6188. It's about 2 years old.
It had a "flashlight" effect on the bottom center. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty. It would have been 800+ bucks.. The TV had the firmware box replace twice under the Samsung warranty but I am now in the "Tweeter" extended warranty.
Anyway, looking at the onscreen menu, I can adjust colors, bright, contrast ect.
It's on dark scenes or sides of peoples faces. It shows all red or dark charcoal I believe the term is macroblocking. Of course I wasn't home when the tech came out and by the time I saw it, the TV shop is closed for the whole weekend.....Figures. I just read some other posts regarding this situation and wish I hadn't.
I know the owner of this TV shop and he's a stand up guy. This was one of his techs who told me on the phone when he was done "It looks fine". So when I speak to the manager when he returns my call, I'll insist that HE comes out to look at the set.
In the meantime, would adjusting the onscreen picture option menu perhaps make this any better?? I have the option of adjusting each of the colors without accessing the service menu.
Thanks
