Hi guys. I just sold my Headphone setup, and all I have left are the crappy speakers on my monitor. I need a set that are decent, w/o too much bass (I live in an apartment). I would prefer that they are under $40.

Thanks again.

Edit: Also, if I bought two seperate speakers (not a system), how would I get them to work (would I need a reciever?). Thanks again.

$40 for a speaker set? You're looking at a stereo PC speaker set then, probably hooked up with a stereo RCA to 1/8" converter. If you can stretch the budget a little further, then look in to these. The 5.1 edition of the previous model is what I current use for my PC, and I loves them.

That really is a decent set of speakers, and if you look on amazon, it only costs about $43. I'm not sure about this set, but I purchased a 2.1 logitech system 2 years ago and it came with the headphone -> RCA adapter, making it perfect for game consoles.

Just bought (240) those for my notebook and also use for the ipod casual listening while working.

They're pretty good.

instead of going for the best cheap speakers, just go for the worst expensive ones........which should be the cheapest best ones.....
