So, my main room has 3 DirecTV boxes, 2 plasma TV's, 1 projector TV, 1 receiver, 2 xboxes, and 2 dvd players in it.

Obviously, the stack of enquiment in the room is unsightly.

The reason there is basically 3 systems in one room, is because of NFL Sunday Ticket. I have the guys over every Sunday and we gorge on NFL.

This real problem is the 3 DirecTV boxes. When I change one channel, i cannot use the Harmony 360 remote because it changes all the boxes.

My plan this offseason is to accomplish two objectives:

Move all the equipment into a coat closet behind the room
Install some control system that allows me to chose one diecTV bow to change at a time without changin the others.

What would be the best set of products to accomplish this goal? I was thinking about a Harmony 890, but does that allow you to chose one specific D*TV box among 3 of the same model without changing the others?

Whats the best way for me to implement my proposed project?

Thyanks in advance for your input.

Directv HD dvrs and the R22 SD dvr has now 8 different IR addresses available to them. I time HD receivers will receiver this 8 addresses as well, but for now the only know two.

What are the model #'s of the receivers?

see how I set up 3 receivers for someone in this thread:

You're in the same situation as the OP in the link I provided.

Leave one H20 set to code 00001
Change the other H20 to code 00002
Then have HR20 set to any one from 00003-00008. lets just use 00003:

First you cover two of the receivers, while you switch the other.

Leave the H20 set to code 00001.

Switch the second H20 to code 00002. Start by programming code 00002 to AV1 on the remote:

1. av1
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 2

Now slide back to the directv device and enter the menu of the receiver:

1. menu> parental, fav's, & setup> system setup> remote> receiver mode>
2. you will see either Directv or AV1/AV2, click whichever to reveal both
3. chose Av1/ AV2, the remote will stop controlling the receiver, slide back to AV1 which has code 00002
4. press DONE, exit the menu

Now with two H20's covered, switch the HR20 to code 00003:

1. av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 3

Now switch back to the Directv device and enter the menu of the receiver:

1. menu> parental, fav's & setup> system setup> remote> advance setups>
2. press DASH key on the remote, its the key left of the zero key.
3. click on the Receiver #, to reveal a drop down menu, scroll to Receiver 3, thats if you are actually using code 00003 for the second receiver, if not then it would be on of the following:

Receiver 3- 00003 on the remote
Receiver 4- 00004 on the remote
Receiver 5- 00005 on the remote
Receiver 6- 00006 on the remote
Receiver 7- 00007 on the remote
Receiver 8- 00008 on the remote

4. click on continue, the remote will no longer control the receiver, slide to AV2 on the remote which should have the code that matches Receiver # you picked in step two above

5. done and exit the menu

I read that, and it was VERY informative. Thanks a ton, but can I do this while being able to use one Harmony 360 to control it all?

The harmony have codesets 00001, 00002, and 00003 in the databank.

You would set up 3 identical devices, initially all using the same codeset, then on two of them ask to confirm IR, it will have you teach a couple of commands for each, be sure you using a remote set to the device with alternate codeset 00002. It will change the rest of the commands to that codeset. Do it again for the third device, of course using a remote set to 00003.

Dude, thats awesome! I'll give it a try. Now to figure out how to hide all the stuff in a closet and still be able to use my harmony. Isnt there some IR->RF->IR modulating device where i can just attach those little eyethingy IR emitters to my devices in the closet?

Oh damn... I forgot to mention also that two TV's in the room are similar also. Both are Panasonc Plasmas that appear to use the same IR codeshttp://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/images/smilies/facepalm.gifhttp://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/images/smilies/facepalm.gifhttp://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/images/smilies/facepalm.gif

Can those TV's be controlled discretely as well?

Nope.

Dangit!http://smiliesftw.com/x/suicide.gif

I was afraid you would give that answer! Is there no question in the universe that can't be answered on AVS forum?

I guess I can live with the TV issue since I really only use the power on/off funtion on the TVs anayways.
