I need that piece. Microsoft doesn't sell this anywhere on their site. I tried calling support but they tried to talk to me about HDMI replacement cables, buying the battery pack with the charger cable for the wireless controller, and some other senseless customer service BS.

If they were gonna make that piece so effing hard to replace in case you lose it, why bother even making it break away from the main cable? Jesus.

Any help. Google failed to give me results.

I DO have 2 wireless controllers, but I'd like this for my PC and for when I get the XCM adapter for the ps3 that lets you use the 360 controller.

Google is your friend. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=xbox+360+breakaway+cable&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=)

Quick scan of the top listings comes up with:

This (a website) (http://www.ddrgame.com/xbox-360-accessory-breakaway-cable.html) and of course a link to an eBay search.

Edit: HA! Beat me to it, I guess I should post quicker instead of wondering if this was a serious thread.

I tried everything. Inline release, wired controller usb connector, etc. Never thought of break away.

Thanks!

What's this XCM adapter you speak of? I have a ps3 and hate the controller so never play it.

It allows the use of a WIRED 360 controller for the ps3, hence my dilemma.

It obviously doesn't support motion sensing, which is the only drawback I see...not that I care for it anyways. Other than that it's true plug and play. I wish it didn't have turbo settings. I don't want people to think I cheat (I don't), so I'll most likely have to not use fast single shot weapons in fps games, since I shoot REALLY fast without a turbo as is.

It's a godsend for fps games since the ps3's analog sticks are placed terribly AND the L2 and R2 triggers suck.

The official term is inline release cable. I googled that and couldn't find anything but other's question about the same thing. I didn't think of break away cable. Sue me. :p

Xbox support is still idiotic as I told them everything about the cable and they STILL had no idea of what I was talking about. It's like they never heard of a piece that connects to the 360.

When I lost mine I just hacked a USB>Mini USB cable and spliced it on. Gave me an extra 6', although you lose the breakway feature.

Wow that site probably knows not that many people sell that part considering that price. $10 for a little 4" wire with two common connectors. Although if MS sold the part it would be like $20.

cheap part + low demand = high profit. It's only 10 bucks because people who need one will pay it. if the market was big enough places like monoprice would probably offer a decently priced solution(they currently don't).

I don't mind spending the $15 as long as I don't have to buy a new wired controller for $40 msrp when my wired controller is practically new aside from the damn missing cable.

I just ordered 20$ worth of cables from mono.. I had to stop myself from the instant gratification that wally world would have supplied. It's worth the wait though.

I guess they come on almost everything. I just recently saw that I had a breakaway cable on my old GH3 xplorer guitar.

yeah, it's a requirement for MS to license a wired controller for 360.

Found the cable for the xplorer but I'm sure it has the same pin layout as the controller

Ya, I was going to mention that the wired hardware for GH, DDR and maybe RB (I think) has that little breakaway cable. Thus If you get some of the older stuff (I know red octaine was selling the GH2 Explorer guitar for $10 around christmas), it might be more cost effective to get that harware and then share the cable. Similarly the hardware bundle for DDR on occation can be had for cheap.

I may be confused but that cable with wireless controller only charges does not transfer the signal as if it is a wired controller. For example a wired controller plugs directly into a computer but wireless one with the wire does nothing. For that you need to wireless adapter to get it to interface with the pc.

Of course I may be completely off what you need it for it has been a long day already.

Break away adapter? Awww.... they called it the "trip proof dongle" back on the first Xbox. :D
