I have been considering getting this combination for my Pioneer 630hd crt projection tv. I understand the trade off in crt projection in regards to black level vs shadow detail. It seems this gamma x device is capable of achieving a lower black level without losing shadow detail. The pictures on the website show a dramatic difference with and with this correction.

I have a few questions if anyone is using gamma correction.

1. Does this device really work as advertised?
2. Are there any trade offs? Will I be losing anything?
3. Are there other devices that will accomplish this?
