View Full Version : Are you Obsessed with a GAME?
Fallout 3, Fallout 3, I am obsessed with Fallout 3. I have beatin it twice but keep on playing. I have tried other games but before the night is over, I am back on Fallout 3. Has anyone else been obsessed with a game that you just can not seem to stop playing?
PS- I don't need help. Just a couple more hours a night for Fallout 3.
codester3388 02-16-09, 01:26 PM I used to be obsessed with call of duty 4 MP. But I played pretty much the WHOLE weekend during a double xp weekend and well....... I took about a month off from playing it after that.
mproper 02-16-09, 01:30 PM Rock Band 2 for me. I just can't quit playing....and of course the game never ends....
I keep waiting to get burnt out on it...
LR6AGB001 02-16-09, 01:32 PM L4D. Finished the game completely 1KG last year and I can't stop heck I even bought it on PC over the weekend. :D
sirjonsnow 02-16-09, 01:37 PM COD4 until I just made gold cross this past weekend - took forever because I only play TDM and missed virtually all of the double-xp weekends because I had family visiting those times.
eatenbacktolife 02-16-09, 01:39 PM L4D right now. I'd be scared to know how much time I've wasted playing VS so far.
sirjonsnow 02-16-09, 01:44 PM I think the game I've finished the most often would probably be Crimson Skies and the original Zelda - 4 or 5 times each. I use to play many seasons with the old Tecmo games and Madden about 5 years ago.
Scott_lb 02-16-09, 01:48 PM Roughly how long does it take to complete the main storyline in Fallout 3? I'm about to start that game soon. Personally, I've been playing too much COD5 lately. I'm at level 58 right now and seem to have missed the double XP weekends. Funny thing I'm actually getting tired of it and already have the guns I want (sans the Carbine). However, when I'm looking for pick-up-and-play gaming, this fits the bill.
sirjonsnow 02-16-09, 02:14 PM Roughly how long does it take to complete the main storyline in Fallout 3?
You could probably blaze through it in around 15 hours if you really pushed it, but if you want to do even just some side missions and were more careful you're looking at 30 hours minimum, probably more like 50 hours. If you want to do all the side quests you can top 90 hours easily.
NoThru22 02-16-09, 02:24 PM I'm not obsessed with any game. Nor would I spend $1,600 on one.
CaCHooKa Man 02-16-09, 02:38 PM right now im obsessed with fallout 3. i played for 14 hours straight the other day without a break. i havent played a game this much since shenmue and skies of arcadia on the dreamcast.
Cygnus311 02-16-09, 02:42 PM Who said anything about $1600 on a game?
Anyway, I finally got my Platinum trophy in Mirror's Edge yesterday and I still want to keep playing it. That "5 hour" game has been a 35+ hour game for me. Time trials, speedruns, etc. Amazing, amazing game. It's one of those games that truly becomes a skill through hours and hours of practice. It never cheats you. If you screw up, it's because YOU screwed up. Bring on the additional DLC maps!
mproper 02-16-09, 02:44 PM I'm not obsessed with any game. Nor would I spend $1,600 on one.
???
Mindwarper 02-16-09, 02:46 PM I also went fallout 3 crazy, but it wore off. I will play again when the 30 level DL is released. I have had many game crazy moments. Hours spent on homm3, madden, c&c zero hour, bioshock, jedi knight. Hell, I even remember dropping coins in a arcade game to play gauntlet. Mostly, now I enjoy either playing with friends or a great single player experience. I look to the next fallout 3 experience. Probably starcraft2, but who knows. Games are getting much more mainstream and polished. So we are living in a golden age of gaming.
OMG, it just figured out about how many hours I have spent on Fallout 3. Around 190 hours. Man, I could have a life if I put it down.
maximuslcd 02-16-09, 03:21 PM ???
Yeah who said anything about $1,600???
I am obsessed with fallout 3...its been a long time since a game has given me this much fun, prolly since cod4 was new. after my kids go to bed I have to make a decision....do I go to bed to have some "quality" time with my wife or play fallout....DOH! I'm not that obsessed with fallout. I'll choose bed with the wife anytime over a video game.
'
But I do love playing fallout
911Dispatcher 02-16-09, 03:29 PM COD4 MP. 2 hours a night at least, 5 nights a week usually.
Lord Flatus 02-16-09, 03:30 PM Rock Band for me.
And I'm betting that's what NoThru is tralking about with the $1600 comment, guessing that's what he's in for. So far. :D I don't want to add up my total...
I haven't been this into a game this bad since the original C&C on my 486/66 with Kali for on-line. I even picked my ISP back then based on it being Kali compatible.
I eat, breathe, and sleep Rock Band. I have the Ions and the Stage Kit. I'm about to stop at Guitar Center for both the $39.00 red laser dj effect *and* the $59.00 green laser effect. We used a red laser pointer in the über-fog Friday night and I'm sold! I have a two outlet remote control that I'm going to plug them into and then rig up a drum thingy to hit so I can kick them in from the throne mid-song.
I ill with this game like that.
I go by Circuit City every week looking for the price of the stage kit to drop so I can buy a second one then mod them both to work together.
I have a sustain pedal for RB2 guitar to kick in overdrive. I play with a pick.
I'm about this close to buying the Rock Band sheet music books so I can learn 25 of the songs on piano and real guitar.
I want to dye the drum logo on my disc golf frisbees.
It's bad. :)
I'm not obsessed with any game. Nor would I spend $1,600 on one.
I'm pretty sure he's referring to all the money he's put into the Rock Band franchise, which I can relate to.
RB2 set : 200$
Let's say 300 DLC songs : 500$
Rock Pedal : 70$
Ion Drum Kit : 300$
Drum Stool : 150$
etc. etc.
Even more expensive if he's got the Roland drum kit setup.
I'm currently obsessed with Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Anybody that enjoyed Legos should try it. I thought it started out a little awkward but after about 3 hours it really gets its hooks in you. Trying to raise up the leader boards is an obsession.
whiskey > work 02-16-09, 03:59 PM battlefield bad company for me. There's a leveling system and all the vehicles you could ever want in a game. Great game
Scott_lb 02-16-09, 04:46 PM 50 hours sounds good to me. It took me about 40 hours to complete GTAIV and I loved every minute. As long as a game is well-designed, I don't mind if it's a little longer than I'd normally like (I don't get to game as often now that I'm married). I recently finished Gears 2 and liked it, but there were parts which seemed to drag a little. I'm working on Ninja Gaiden II now and plan to hit up MGSIV, Mass Effect, and Fallout 3 when finished. Those are the last three games in my "to play" stack!
cueCrew 02-16-09, 05:32 PM :D
I was expecting pics of somebody's McFarlane characters, some logo'd merchandise and a few " I <3 ....."
Luisfc1972 02-16-09, 06:56 PM battlefield bad company for me. There's a leveling system and all the vehicles you could ever want in a game. Great game
i was thinking about getting this game. is there a lot of people to play online with?
right now im obsessed with fallout 3. i played for 14 hours straight the other day without a break. i havent played a game this much since shenmue and skies of arcadia on the dreamcast.
i still whip out skies of arcadia on my ol dreamcast. as well as emulated (i OWN the games!) super mario world (SNES) and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES).
Fragster 02-16-09, 07:45 PM Upon various requests from my friends, I traded my copy of WaW ((hardly played the online) and picked up Cod4 (used $29.99 at GameStop) and man, it has completely taken over my life ever since I got it.
I'm averaging about 2 hours a night in the weekdays and both Sat and last night, I was up till 4am playing with my buddies.
Was damned tired all day today and my wife gave me an earful since I was supposed to help her clean the house and instead I was dozing till 11am:D
ddrheretic 02-16-09, 07:50 PM Crimson Gem Saga for the psp...
Degenerazn 02-16-09, 07:56 PM Madden 09. Its not a very healthy obsession either. I spend more time being frustrated over all the BS that goes with the game this year. And for some reason, I keep on coming back to it, even though the NFL season is long gone till August. Its like that unhealthy relationship I had back in my first couple years of college. It was so bad mentally and health wise but for some reason I kept on going back.
jcavner 02-16-09, 08:00 PM i've spent way too much time playing Dynasty mode on NCAA Football 2008. Best $12 i've ever spent on a pre-owned game.
whiskey > work 02-16-09, 08:06 PM i was thinking about getting this game. is there a lot of people to play online with?
tons. The only annoying thing is you can only talk to your other squad members (4 guys). That sucks. But what a freakin game. I got mine for $20 at bestbuy. HUGE levels, tons of weapons and vehicles. Even boats! So much fun
I like gamming a lot, but I do not think I have 'obscessed' about 1 specific game on the Xbox, (though I did get into Oblivion a bit, with the stats, and trying to efficiently level up).
I however did have a 'problem' with diablo 2, in that I could not stop playing it, because it would be 'just one more Mephisto run, one more pindleskin run, etc, and then getting on the trde channel and trying to trade stuff would consume hours upon hours......by the way when it diablo 3 comming out....lol
RKRocha 02-16-09, 08:16 PM Fallout 3, Fallout 3, I am obsessed with Fallout 3. I have beatin it twice but keep on playing. I have tried other games but before the night is over, I am back on Fallout 3. Has anyone else been obsessed with a game that you just can not seem to stop playing?

I too am obsessed with Fallout 3... I am also an OCD RPG player....i check every metal box, tool box, cabinet that doesn't say empty! 75hrs in game and counting... i dont think i will ever be DONE with this game.. many more achievements to get... - RICHUT96 (XBL)

I finished it in ~71 hrs and missed quite a bit. I'm going back from save points now to collect a few achievements. I'll probably start again just to play the game as a different type of character. Great game.
007 QoS MP Golden Gun...Hilarity ensues!!! :P
revivalizt 02-17-09, 07:08 AM I'm surprised nobody mention World of Warcraft or Guild Wars in this "forum". LOL
Mine was Forza 2 and Naruto: Rise of a Ninja.
Yeah I know it's not much.
But, I did spent roughly 2.5 years, 7 days a week on Guild Wars. Then I repented from my sins and never turn back again. Pheww...
whiskey > work 02-17-09, 07:33 AM there are certain games that I'll just avoid because I know they are time hogs. Forza 2 while awesome required mega blocks of time tuning and tweaking. Even fallout 3 is like that to a certain extent, but I can wrench myself away from that game pretty easy

I just stopped playing D2 about a year ago. I was obsessed with that one and played it all the time for about 5 years. Went through the whole game 7 times which also included the expansion. That was truely a great game. It would be way cool if they came out with D3 for the 360. I know that when D3 comes out, I will finally leave Fallout 3. Rumors are that D3 will be out on 9/9/09. I hope.
Nielo TM 02-17-09, 08:49 AM quick answer to the OP...Yes!
HALO: CE and HALO 2
I've played the HALO 2 campaign more then 20 times and still haven't got board tbh.
pcweber111 02-17-09, 10:14 AM Well right now it's Fallout 3. I can't stop playing and I haven't even tempted to finish the main quest. Before that it was Oblivion. Rinse and repeat with that game. Before that it was PGR2 for the Xbox. I think I put probably over 3000 hours easily into that game over a twp and a half year stretch. I played with a large group of friends religiously and only quit because people stopped playing. I don't think I'll ever put that much time into a game again.
mikeloxlong 02-17-09, 10:44 AM I was super into COD4...now, it's just a place where I hang out with my AVS friends!
Fallout 3. On my 3rd run through the game, trying different methods than my first two goes (first was spent too quickly on completing the game....you just miss out on so much, the 2nd I went for a very good karma, energy weapon user). I talked it up so much to a few of my friends that they went out and purchased it. Now anytime I see them on LIVE they are playing Fallout 3 as well :)
Mw182006 02-17-09, 02:24 PM Obsessed with gaming in general. I've sunk the most time in to Geometry Wars 2 lately and finished NG2 last night, since I can't seem to find a shooter to fill the void COD4 left.
mikeloxlong 02-17-09, 02:49 PM keep playing COD4...the water is still warm
dauthum 02-17-09, 03:05 PM Oblivian for me. I have had at least four to five characters with 80+ hours before starting new ones. I have yet to beat the main quest because I get side tracked and then come up with new charater concepts. I have not had as much fun with FO3 but I am more into Fantasy/Magic RPGs than shooter type RPGs.
corey99699 02-17-09, 03:10 PM Splinter cell chaos theory.love it!
jpcothrenjr 02-17-09, 03:35 PM I am playing an online dynasty with 3 other friends and we are having a blast, we just started season 2.
Rock Band for me. I'm probably only in for about a grand though :)
Fallout 3 sucked me up completely but after inadvertently finishing the main quest and being soooo let down by the joke of an ending (I was expecting something like the original Fallout games where every town you visit gets an epilogue) I sent the game back to Gamefly without finishing the remaining side quests I had open.
smfchris 02-17-09, 04:30 PM used to be COD4 for me but Battlefield Bad Company is my new addiction. Online play is awesome, better than COD4.
NoThru22 02-17-09, 04:36 PM Yes, Rock Band is the game that I've spent > $ 1,600 on.
Oblivion. Only 33 hours in and I haven't even scratched the surface.
Resistance 2 multiplayer - two hours each evening for 6 to 8 weeks...and i still suck!
COD4 and W@W...obsessed with finishing all the challenges.
GH2 then Rockband
I pretty much stopped buying any other game because they just collect dust.
I buy about 95% of the dlc that comes out.
hoyalawya 02-17-09, 07:00 PM Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for me. I cannot stop playing online ranking matches despite the lag. I have played over 400 online matches so far.
dogmanky 02-17-09, 07:31 PM I'm surprised nobody mention World of Warcraft or Guild Wars in this "forum".
That's because they are playing rather than reading this. :D
You're talking serious addiction!
kciaccio 02-17-09, 08:55 PM Lost Planet Extreme Condition. Took me months to get to level 90. Love it!
bdwright77 02-17-09, 10:18 PM The first 30 hrs or so of Fallout were pretty addictive, although I wouldnt say I was obsessed. Many RPGs are like that. Well, maybe its an overall preference for that type of game.
Now...MGS3 and FFXII were a whole other story. Obsessed by all accounts my lady would give you.
Anthony Cler 02-17-09, 10:52 PM battlefield bad company for me. There's a leveling system and all the vehicles you could ever want in a game. Great game
Me too. I absolutely love this game. It's all I play. Can't wait for 1943 and BF:BC2.
Halo ( all of them but especially the first one)
Oblivion
Fallout 3 (currently)
Far Cry (PC version)
Counterstrike Source ( had to stop playing as it was stressing me out too much)
before that:
Frontier ( Elite 2)
Elite
Star Wars arcade machine (something pretty good about being playing challenge matches with adults and taking down their high score when you are 7 years old!)
Dragon's Lair arcade (see above)
I've only been REALLY obessed with a couple of games.
Oblivion: Accidentally deleted my main game save with about 240 hours on it. I honestly didn't even care that much as it gave me a good reason to do everything all over again. I'm currently about 100 hours in.
Knights of the Old Republic: I've played through as both male and female light side/dark side multiple times, and still make time for a playthrough occasionally. That game never gets old to me.
Final Fantasy VII: I've played through this game so many times that it's not even fun for me anymore. I spent 60 hours just on Chocobo breeding on one of my playthroughs. Funny side note about that...I'm pretty sure there's some inbreeding side effects if you continue to breed your best chocobos beyond any reasonable level. Towards the end I'd end up with ridiculously fast chocobos that were so stupid they couldn't run in a straight line.
mikeloxlong 02-18-09, 09:15 AM LOL @ FFVII!
In college, me and my buddies at a party once made up a new materia combination. Added effect beer materia. It was pretty dumb but it's still one of the best games...ever
ooPAYNEoo 02-18-09, 09:43 AM Only game I have ever been obsessed with for XBOX has been Test Drive Unlimited. I ate, slept and shat that game for a good long period of time. I dream for an update. Please give us TDU2.
cesslinger 02-18-09, 10:53 AM Back in the day... NG for xbox with well over 500 hours play time.
Currently... well I played SF4 for about 6 hours last night, otherwise the newer games only keep my attention for a little bit of time. The weather is great right now and I need to stay on the mountain bike to justify the expense... and it is like a real life videogame.
RAVEN56706 02-18-09, 11:20 AM 2 games... NFL Head Coach and COD-WAW... ZOMBIE MODE!!!
I've been playing a lot of Mercs 2 lately. About 2-3 hours a night after the wife and kids go to bed. Not a flawless game, but a lot of fun -- especially for the 14.95 I paid for it.
Also, returned to Lumines 2 (PSP). I've got over a hundred hours on that. Last night I was dreaming about falling blocks.
