I am building a lake house for retirement and I am trying to figure out what all I need to buy for audio visual. I will want outside sound on the porch and at dock and hdtv in lr and mbr. It will have a walkout basement. While it won't be completely dark I want to put in a home theatre for my husband. I will have to purchase the projector and screen but we have alot of older equipment that is not being used and I would like to utilize as much of it as possible to cut down on costs. I made an inventory of what we have. Can you tell me if this equipment is still good enough to use for a home theatre setup or how I could use it? What else do I need? What should I trash? Thanks

Its tough to advise you without understanding your goals.

I expect, all of the equipment can be used in some form or another. For the main HT, you will probably ultimately need to replace the receiver to something with HDMI, but the other receivers could still be used to power aura bass shakers in the seat (little subwoofers that shake the seat) or the like.

Are you looking to interconnect all the systems so that you can be running the same music/video in each of the zones (1. Porch; 2. Dock; 3. living room; 4. Master bed; 5. HT)? Or are you looking to run each system independently? Assuming the latter, you can probably move whatever is in your current bedroom to the new one, same for the living room, etc.

Whatever you do, buy the HT projector last as the tech is always getting cheaper and better.

Don't throw away anything. You have a lot of receivers! Just like pilgrim said, move the other stuff to the bedroom and other rooms.

Are you going to be doing this yourself? If not, most installers would be hesitent to use gear that they do not supply.
