hello everyone, I have Charter cable TV with a cable box and have a pretty nice package of HD channels, extra sports, HBO, etc...... in my garage which is like a gameroom I have just a coax going to a smaller but new Samsung LCD. First I was surprised how many channels I get just via coax cable. This must have a QAM tuner in it (i am a newbie) because based off what you all say thats how you get the HD channels....

well, the channels are weird. like 98-4, or 11-5, etc... I even get a couple of those Music Choice channels.... but just a couple! So, my question is, how do I find out what this channel lineup is? It seems like I could type in ###-## and just hope its another channel....

its just strange how "sporadic" these channels are via coax, like there can be many more I am missing

thanks for any info

If you post in your local area section of the forum you will probably get a listing of what is available via QAM in your area.

The sporadic channels are probably your neighbors VOD selections.

Run a channel scan. The channels you get with a scan should come in all of the time. You will also occasionaly get others as indicated by the previous poster. You will want to rescan on a regular basis because some cable companies move and/or add channels fairly often.

My dad had something like this happen on his Vizio. There is more than one input for coax on a tv like his one will tune to all channels digital and converted and the other spits out the regular signal. If you se channels like 77-105 or 32-6 then you are on the digital, and the image should be HD on some of them and other will just be a converted signal. If you switch the coax connection you might find the channels are all what you would expect on whole number channels.
I have the number dash number 77-105 system on mine and it seems that the digital signal causes changes. at one point i got every channel the company offered and then a week later the signal was gone. I get about 20 channels at all times. I rescan once a week or so. rescanning might yield more or new channels.

It's the same cable that delivers the signals to your cable box as well...
