I started the download for it this morning before work, around 7:30 AM EST. The link to it was front and center when the dashboard loaded. I'm looking forward to giving this a go when I get home.

Going to the store to get the retail release. I can't pass up special versions like this. I did the same thing with Shivering Isles.

I can't wait to play it tonight. Got my download started this morning before leaving for work.

My card still has not shipped from Amazon. I don't understand why they couldn't ship it last week since it is just a code. Guess it doesn't matter anyway since my Xbox disc tray won't stay closed. I think this DLC will require the GTAIV disc in the tray to play. Hopefully by the time Costco ships out my new Elite, I'll have the code from Amazon.

Amazon hasn't shipped mine either which sucks. I would cancel it and pick it up locally, but then I'm guessing they'll charge me the $16 for the 3 month card which I normally wouldn't have purchased.

Thumbs up from me. I'm only a few missions in so far, but I like it a lot. I don't wanna give anything away, but I will say that riding a motorcycle is much easier, as is shooting someone from a motorcycle. Also, after you shoot a rival gang member off his bike, watch Johnny, its kinda funny.

It is a whole new game. Not nearly as long as the main GTA IV. Most sites say its about 1/3 the length of Niko's story.

12 to 14 hours of the story, and INFINITE FREE MODE! lol:D

One other thing that seems to be improved, though its been a while since I've played the original game so I could be misremembering, is that when you have to restart a mission it doesn't put you all the way back at the beginning of it, so that you have to drive back to where you were at and stuff, it puts you a few minutes before where you were.

So far for me and my friends... it's been bittersweet.

Let me just tell you guys that my friends and I just like to play 'free mode' alone and with police on. All we like to do is load up and then hit the town, so to speak. ;) At first I didn't want to download it last night. I got an update. "oh cute, theres a little marketplace tab in the game now." :rolleyes: Fantastic. Then I said, "forget it, lets download this thing." Took a couple hours so my buddy and I just took turns shooting stuff in regular GTA4. A few hours later, the download is done and now we (my friend and I that were just playing in person...) are now playing on Live. My other buddy joins the party but is not sure he wants to get it that night. We load up are usual play mode. OH NO!!! Turning police on or off is GREYED OUT!!! WTMFINGOMFG!!!! WHY!!?!?!?!

I know it sounds stupid but in an instant the game become 'dead' to me and my buddy that just signed in. We had to update for the DLC so its not like we expected to take out an on and off feature. Again ..... WTF big time!?!? Why? Why? Why?

Soooo.... my other buddy who did download the DLC and is now back home is scratching his head. He's been playing the single player so he didnt know what happened to the multiplayer mode. Again....why **** with an on/off feature in free mode. So ****ed up.

Long story short, my friend that did have the DLC confirmed with me that we could have cops again in free mode and with the newer weapons. Yes, making progress. This confirmation got my other friend to buy the download. Lucky for all of us, his download speed was MUCH faster than mine. He got the DLC within about 10mins. All got connected and got to get back to what we used to be able to do ....but now we had to pay an extra $25 to keep doing it. :mad: :rolleyes: :mad: :rolleyes:

Oh.. .... and the biggest, bestest feature that I read about on here that we all wanted .... Oh what was that? Oh assault rifles out the passenger window? NEVER HAPPENS!!! MUTHER ****!!!!!! :mad:

Guess I can just enjoy the new storymode and all that... :rolleyes: *sigh* We weren't asking for much but we had to buy it anyway... Son of a bitch.

The game is supposed to run around 15-20 hours for the missons alone (although 20 seems to be a bit on the high side). I'll be picking this up for sure, although not until I finish Mass Effect and Fallout 3. So, I'll be getting it sometime around 2016 :)

I also heard that there were new things you can do in free mode, have you found anything different?
Is the new grainy effect distracting? IGN didn't like that aspect of it.

I got my card from Amazon today.... wasn't there supposed to be 3 months of Xbox packed in with it??? :confused:

EDIT: DRAT... the 3 month XBL card had to be added with the Lost and Damned in Amazon's cart and the cost of the 3 month card was to be deducted. I thought it was automatic.

Kayook, I haven't played any of the new single player yet but I did play free mode for a couple hours. We were able to turn police on in free mode, yes but not while playing regular GTA4 at all. We tried every weapon to see if it were compatible with vehicles and the standards are the same even in a SWAT van. Just a new machine pistol (totally awesome, btw) and pipe bomb which is just like a grenade. This is all we have done so far but we plan on investigating any new features tonight. Except for the inablity to turn police on or off, GTA4 was untouched. I hope they fix this in a patch.

The grain effect can be disabled from the pause menu screen. I didn't care for the grain in MP but I would leave it on for SP. I turned it off for now.

Yes, I have. The quote you posted was in regards to weapons use from vehicles. You cannot use a grenade launcher from the vehicle. It is pretty sweet but the new auto shotty owns my face. :) Of course neither of which can be used from a vehicle. :rolleyes:

I turned grain off after a short while thinking that it would drive the NR on the TV crazy.

Running back to the club house to save, and driving around to get armour before replaying missions will hopefully encourage me to play a little more carefully.:)

I don't know your friends exact situation or what location your friends xbox is freezing, but almost immediately after downloading TLAD my xbox froze up while starting another game. I turned my xbox off and cut it back on and it froze on the opening screen. It did this a few times till I erased it and then my xbox worked fine. I re-installed it yesterday and no problems since. That's my two cents.
