View Full Version : Fear 2 : Project Origin
Poolshark69 02-17-09, 07:54 AM So i was going to go pick this up after work. i was mildly entertained by the demo as for the graphics and gameplay. How is the full game? Controls? Levels? Scary Factor?
I apologize if there is an existing thread but all I could find was the demo thread.
neonist 02-17-09, 08:33 AM Graphics: Dark. Haha really though, the visuals can range from very good to mind-blowing.
Gameplay: As good as it gets on the 360. Aiming is flawless, sprinting around and immediately crouching behind cover is quick and easy to perform. The gunfights are plentiful and they stay fun throughout the game due to the good enemy AI and the slomo ability.
Levels: Range from the typical corridor FPS environments to some jawdropping destroyed cityscapes. As you progress through the game, the levels get more and more impressive. The lighting especially is top notch.
Scary Factor: Not that great but it has it's moments, and the story is interesting enough. I never did find video games scary, but the atmosphere and tension in FEAR 2 is spot on.
I'm near the end of the game and I would rank this up there with the best FPS experiences I've had. This past Sunday, I played nearly through the entire day- I couldn't put it down. I'd get it, especially if you really get into games like Half Life 2.
my65ffrcobra 03-02-09, 01:14 PM I think this game is great so far, I bought it after I thought the demo was good. I'll +1 all of neonists statements.
I am stuck on fighting the armored soldiers though, the one that have a blue shield when you shoot them. I see the shock grenade disables them for a few seconds but still have no luck killing them, do I have to use a certain weapon or shoot in a certain area?

I would guess that you should throw the nade activate slo mo and use a one hit kill weapon(if you have access to one at that point). do melees work on them?
my65ffrcobra 03-02-09, 02:37 PM ok found a walkthrough, I guess you just blast it with the shotgun or frag grenaides while he is shocked by the shock grenades.
talbain 03-02-09, 08:29 PM this game is fantastic imo. i'm a little disappointed there doesnt seem to be as much alma as there was in the 1st game. that damn little dead girl REALLY creeps me out. it's early on though...
Tony6225 03-03-09, 12:27 PM My brother let me borrow this game. I beat it. And then i went out to buy it immediately after. Im a big fan of shooters and I definitely needed this one in my collection. I havent been so frightened by scenes in a video game since Quake4/Doom3. Playing at night by yourself with the lights off adds to the effect. Im not going to spoil anything. The Elementary School interval is just downright creepy. Aside from those things, there is such a feeling of satisfaction you get from using the weapons in this game which is a must for any shooter to be good. I love shooters that send hoards of enemies at you, but also gives you enough firepower to hold them off. Walking through a nuclear wasteland with a mech suit lobbing bullets into armies of enemies gives me goosebumps.
I've been playing at night with my Astro's/mixamp and I've gotten freaked the F' out.
The chills I've gotten from the creepy scenes/music..... luved it!
This is a great game.
rdperry 03-03-09, 08:17 PM just finished this game and I got to say it is my favorite shooter I have played on the 360. We all have things that we like and dont like in game but the campaign mode in this game was lots of fun for me. I am confused by people that liked the original but dont like this one. I thought that the game was improved in every area from the original. I dont really play multiplayer online though so maybe that is where some of the dislike for this came comes from. At the very least if you like FPS then you owe it to yourself to rent this came
TRALFAZ 03-03-09, 09:20 PM Great single player game, love the slo-mo. The multiplayer is not as good as the first FEAR but it's passable, just hard to find a full room late at night. Oh well, I just got Halo Wars so party on. :)
newfmp3 03-03-09, 10:14 PM i'm really enjoying this as well. Controls are spot on, and guns feel great.Too bad it's going to be overshadowed by kz2, because this is more fun.
jcbaggins 03-04-09, 10:28 AM I just played the demo again last night based off the last few posts, and I agree that this seems like a really good game. I was waiting for Killzone2 for PS3, but not that impressed with the demo so now I'm going to pickup Fear 2. Thanks guys
newfmp3 03-04-09, 10:35 AM Just realize that Killzone graphics are just in a different league of their own. not that Fear looks bad, far from it.

Killzone does have spectacular graphics. FEAR has the silkiest of controls.
If only the two would have a baby together ;)

Read the reviews, seriously... the two games are in different leagues. I know that will ruffle feathers but it's the truth.
rdperry 03-04-09, 01:46 PM KZ2 does look great but I am a little afraid of the controls and if I will like them or not after a lot of post I have read here. I will most likely rent it this week end now that I am done with Fear 2. Hopefully its not an either or but rather I will enjoy both games a bunch.
eatenbacktolife 03-14-09, 12:46 AM Wow, what an excellent game! Granted, I'm not too surprised since I loved the first one. Still the best and most visceral firefights around. The "twist" at the end was surprising and very cool, totally unexpected. My only complaint is the parts where you are shooting ghosts and those creepy little bastards. It seems like this game flew under the radar for a lot of people, but it's definitely worth a rental for the singleplayer.

Hilarious trailer for the new DLC for the win!
darklordjames 03-29-11, 12:16 AM Did anybody ever get around to playing the single player expansion, Reborn? Digging through my games I came across Fear 2 again and figured I'd pop it in and grab the DLC if it was any good before giving the game away.
