My custom installer wants me to pick up a Universal mx-880, with an extender. We are building a new house with a media room (projector, screen, receiver, blu ray..etc), and a plasma in the family room and master bedroom. I need about 90' of range.

This particular remote will need a custom guy to program right? So i think after the programming, extender and remote fees, i could be getting close to $1k...is there anything that is good that wouldn't be quite as expensive?

Thanks

I should also ask...what is the difference between the mx-450 and the mx-880? is it worth the price difference for a casual HT guy?

Thanks

The MX-880 is a color screen version of the MX-900. Programming is the same with both. You can find out more about the MX-900 on RemoteCentral.com, as well as download the programming manual if you want to get a better idea of how it all works.

The MX-450 has a color screen as well, but it is not PC programmable. All programming is done on the remote itself. The MX-880/900 has much more capability in programming.

for my setup than, would the mx-450 be adequate? 2 plasmas, dvd player, receiver...

what extra programming does the 880 give?
