Looks pretty fun...1200 points. Like Scorched Earth, but real-time. I hope it will let multiple players on one console play on live as well.

I played the demo this morning and thought it sucked. Should be 400 points dead serious

yeah the price will be the reason i dont get it.... i know this will sound bad but i really hope people dont buy this where ms/developers will get it in their minds to try and make 15 bucks the "normal" price for arcade games. they have a good system now with the 5 and 10 price points with 15 being reserved for "special" titles.

Don't know Scorched Earth, but it looks like real-time Worms to me.

Hope MS doesn't think 1200pts will be accepted by XBLA fans. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for XBLA games anymore, not after I bought Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader

Checked out the trial for 10-15 min...the game is pretty nice visually but the controls take a bit of getting used to. I was getting my ass handed to me even on the basic stuff. I could see how this would be fun online with a group of friends, but like you guys said, I don't think a lot of people are going to want to shell out 1200.

Isn't there free verisons of this game on the web?

Braid was 1200 MS points, I consider braid a highlight of last year's total games released. Same with flower. if having a 1200 point standard will make devlopers look into bigger budgets for XBLA or PSN titles then I say more power to them PSN and XBLA are the defining virtues of the two next gen consoles.

After careful consideration I felt that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was my favorite game of last year, my "GOTY" if you will, and that was a $15 game.

As logicalnoise points out, if $15 means more developers are attracted to the system I am all for it. I think $5-$10 for downloadable games (which ,lets face it, often are criticized right alongside their full priced brethren) is too low and $60 for full priced games is too high.

I could've told you that a game based on that show would be trash. Doesn't mean every $15 game is.

Braid was indeed $15 and it was the best 360 game of 08. I would have paid $30 for it. Geometry Wars 2 was only $10 and was the 2nd best game of 08. Not XBLA best games, overall best games on the system last year.

As much as I liked Braid I was simply unable to figure out the puzzles by the 3rd and 4th world.
Castle Crashers was awesome and I played for weeks solid with a buddy. The only that really stopped us playing castle crashers was my charater losing everything/data corruption just when we were gearing up for hardcore, that and then my 360 RROD. Which is probaly what caused the data corruption.

More Games like castle crasher or geometry wars and I'll pay the 1200ms points

hahahahah, thanks for the laugh.

there are plenty of games worth 1200ms points (braid included) but this new standard of pricing EVERY new arcade game at 1200ms points is a joke.

i said i dont pay for 1200 point games. there isnt anything i ever need RIGHT NOW and most games will typically get a price drop.

is braid worth 1200pts? judging from the demo, yes.... as is castle crashers, and a few others.... will i buy them? no, i will not. at least not at that price point... braid may be your favorite game of 2008, but thats not the same as the best game of 2008.

i have around 65 360 games, and can probably count on one hand which ones i've paid full msrp of $60 for..... that doesnt mean i agree with the $60 price point OR that i'm saying no games are worth $60.

never pay retail

Exactly and has Braid received a price drop yet? No. So you haven't played it but are miraculously so sure that it was not the best game of 08. Well I have, and to me, it is both the best and my favorite.

I played scorched earth daily for months while living in a college dorm. :) I think that if you have a good group of buddies to play with, it could last a long time.

well the best game of 08 sells more than 250k units. i'm sorry.

like i said, that may be your opinion, and thats fine, but that doesn't make it fact.

How does it prove anything?

I agree that 1200 points is too much for the type of game you have normally seen on XBLA, like crappy updates of early 1980s arcade games, but come on, its silly to just say "no more than 800 points, period", because then we will only get games that fit the 800 point, $10 mold.

$10 is a low price even by PC shareware standards. I think bridging that gap and MS allowing games to be priced higher than $10 opens up an avenue to better games. Braid, Castle Crashers, and SSF2THDR are not Tempest or whatever. These are games that would have been boxed up and sold for $30+ last generation and would've been worth it at that price. I mean, would you have considered Braid if it was boxed up and sold for $20? Because, well, it wouldn't have been XBLA.

i'm just saying..... the game may be "worth" $15... but consumers are going to vote with their wallet.

you can sell 253,000 copies for $15 and make 3.8 million in revenue while pissing off a large portion of your customer base.... or you can sell a million copies for $10 and make 10 million in revenue and make everyone happy.

truth is, most of the $15 dollar games are probably "worth" that, though that term is relative.... but they should all be priced at $10.... and many many of the $10 games should be priced lower.

Maybe. No guarantee that $5 will make such a big difference.

many many of the $10 games should be priced lower.

I can agree with that. There are a lot of overpriced games, but that doesn't mean there is some arbitrary price (801 points and above) where every game is always overpriced.

Definitely would have been worth 1200 points if it would have been like the old Commodore 64 game Artillery, but sadly it wasnt.
