View Full Version : Tons of New Burnout Paradise Cars Avaialable
NoThru22 02-19-09, 08:48 AM There's 2,000 points worth of new cars up on the marketplace (if you get all three packs), including the toy cars pack and boost cars pack I don't know anything about. Xbox360Achievements has videos of the legendary cars. I wasn't interested in the Delorean until I saw the video, and now I know why it's the most expensive car.

Which one is the "Delorean"?
Edit: Nevermind. Makes me want to get the game now.
Just bought this game this week. Can't wait to start playing.
Yeah, I loaded up this game a couple days ago for the first time in a long while to try out the latest update. I know it's semi-controversial, but I love the ability to restart a botched event. I understand why this wasn't in the original game, but it just frustrated me and I'm glad they added the restart option.
I also like the new look of the "super ramps" and billboards. I'll probably pass on the "Party" DLC, but I might pick up some of those sweet new cars. I've got 70 more events 'till my Elite license, and I want to play more of this game now.
HeadRusch 02-19-09, 11:15 AM Thats not exactly cheap content.....considering how much they've given away free however, it is..I suppose...inline. I just wish I could get into this game..as of now, I can't.
ballen420 02-19-09, 11:17 AM Has the game already been updated to restart events? I was playing a couple weeks ago and it hadn't yet, but that was prior to the party pack coming out.
I thought the restart update was coming with the new map.

It's in now... press right on the d-pad.
ballen420 02-19-09, 11:21 AM Sweet...thanks! I haven't played in a couple weeks and was waiting for this option.
whiskey > work 02-19-09, 11:22 AM retart events helps out a lot
logicalnoise 02-19-09, 11:32 AM heh I knew about teh car update but hadn't really had an urge to play my copy so I traded it in towards SFIV. the restart event feature would have at least made e reconsider. Oh well.
Restart is back in? Holy cow, I'm going to pop this back in. Thanks for the info. Got annoying later in the game when you had to start wasting lots of time circling back to the start.
NoThru22 02-19-09, 12:13 PM You have to download the free 1.7 update to get the new features.
NoThru22 02-19-09, 03:39 PM The toy cars and boost pack got pulled. They were put up too early.
Dammit...I downloaded this on my PS3 cuz I didn't want to have to mess with a disk. Blah.
I got the 4 new cars.
I wouldn't say they are a good value, but I don't mind giving the devlopers of this game a little something -- they've been good to us.
Starting the game now gives you the option to play either the regular cars, the bikes, and now the Legendary cars. All your stats follow into the Legendary Cars, and you do all the same events and continue to unlock cars in this new mode.
The DeLorean is wicked fast... too fast for this old guy. I also took the Ectomobile and KITT for a spin, and wasn't really feeling it. Then I loaded up the General Lee, and it clicked. It's a "stunt" vehicle, but it's got decent speed and its strong. I played with this one for a while, going through some Races, Marked Man and Road Rage. The Gen. Lee owned in Road Rage.
All in all, these legendary cars are nice but skipable. I'm wondering what the upcoming "Toy Cars" is going to be all about. Anyway, 60 events 'till my Elite license! I hope to get it before the Island pack is up.
whiskey > work 02-22-09, 08:09 AM daver I agree. It seems like EA is starting to listen to the fans a bit more and giving back. I'll reward them. Gotta give credit where it's due, I've trashed the company in the past for some lackluster efforts
Hannzo24 02-22-09, 09:11 AM The lack of restart was a game killer for me before....now I'm addicted to it and haven't stopped playing in 3 days. Love the game now.
Ramsrule 02-22-09, 09:55 AM I figured it was time to give this game some props.... for me, it's the ONLY free-roaming racer I play. Its addictive, and the racing isnt too bad for an aracde racer due in part to it's damage model. I've tried NFS Carbon, I've tried Midnight Club:LA..... and always come back to Burnout:Paradise.
Add to the fact that they're still adding DLC and actively developing add-ons for this game and at it's 20.00 price point, it's a no-brainer. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on it via Goozex (only 200 points, but demand is heavier than the supply by about 90 requests - PS3 version is 600 points?), you're stealing from whomever offered it up for trade.
Ok..... enough gushing since anyone reading this thread owns the game and already knows what I've just said. :D
Enjoy the new content guys! I know I will.
whiskey > work 02-23-09, 07:36 AM had a monster session last night with the game. It is SOOOO much better with the restart. It's like night and day. Now I'm not so frustrated by the game and can enjoy the racing more
formulanerd 02-23-09, 11:16 AM if anyone doesnt have burnout and wants it, it's $20 at walmart online.

I picked up the Toy Cars last night.
Ugggg... I've got to stop buying Burnout car DLC. The toys are cute and fun to try out, but not really game-changing or worth the money IMO. Burnout Paradise is a great game, but they give so much varied unlockable cars in-game, paying for additional cars/bikes doesn't really make sense. Plus, its not a racing sim, so the differences between the fake in-game cars and DLC cars doesn't really matter that much.
Anyway... I need to complete less than 50 events to get the Elite license!

Yeah I don't get the need for the toy cars either.
Sorry for the gloating... but I've been working on this for a long time and can't hold back:

Now all that's left is the remaining 20% of the game (billboards, smashes, jumps...).

Impressive:D The lack of arrows really turns me off.. At least, let that be a option.

Arrows?
I guess its time to pick up the game...
NoThru22 03-23-09, 09:55 AM Write back to me when you get the platinum cars. We can race them together. :)

I. Hate. You. :D

How do you get those?
How do you get those?
Gold cars at getting Elite license, Platinum for completing all the other tasks (super jumps, billboards, crashes, etc..).
Is unlocking the Platinum cars @ 100% completion ("Criterion Elite")?
NoThru22 03-23-09, 04:06 PM It's actually 101% completion (if that makes sense) because you have to finish all single player events, find all breakables/jumps, and then complete ~60 online challenges.

Crap -- I was hoping to avoid any online. :(
Oh well, thanks for saving me the effort... I think I can hang this game up for now.
I don't mind playing online...I just hate having to play with timmys. Blah!
I just got around to opening up and playing my copy.....
How do you get the DLC? Do you have to do it on the marketplace outside of the game?
NoThru22 03-24-09, 09:47 AM Daver, the online challenges are extremely fun. They're stuff like get together with 2 people and do x amount of feet of oncoming, or everyone meet up on top of this one parking garage, or everyone do a 720 at the quarry, or everyone do a barrel roll through the hoop at the airpark. At least give them a shot before you dismiss them.

I'd agree with this. Some of the online challenges are actually very fun. Like the one that has you line-up seven cars between the jumps on the beach so one car can jump them all. There are different ones for different numbers of players, so it keeps it fun.
I'm in the opposite position to DaverJ...I got all the jumps, billboards and so on. Now I just need to finish all the events. I don't see myself as anal enough to do all of those...and the street times and showtimes. Feels too much like grinding. But I will give credit where credit's due...few games have stayed on the active roster as long as Burnout has.

Oh yes, I forgot that part of 101% is getting all the road rules and crash records on every street.

Well you have to get the game update in the marketplace but once you install that you will have a burnout store in the game where you can buy all the add-ons.

I am a combination of you two. I just got my Elite license, I have completed 87% of the game. I have all the jumps, billboards, and smashes also completed. I am now going for all the road rules..

Mw182006 04-06-09, 04:42 PM Wow, no official thread for this one? Are enough people still playing on here to start one? I'll just throw some thoughts/questions out there. I just got it last week and convinced a few friends to pick it up too. We played online for the first time yesterday and knocked out some challenges and did some races...lots of fun. You really have to know the course if you expect to win huh? I found myself making costly wrong turns a whole lot, and also crashing while I was glancing at the map/compass - but maybe I'll blame it on the beers...bah! Gates and billboards are also a distraction I'll have to get over when I'm in a race, it seems like more often than not the gates take you off your desired line and heading the wrong way instead of a shortcut, but I guess that'll come with learning the map.
I do miss the traffic checking from BO:Revenge, but at the same time that was a little cheesy and now it feels like you have to rely more on your skills to win. Wrecking takes you out of an online race much more so than the last one too, and I think the animations could be a bit shorter.
What are the more popular game modes online, or is it pretty varied? Will we eventually be able to race the bikes online or is that already available? Anyways...fun game overall and I'm glad they've supported the game the way they have so far.
Gates and billboards are also a distraction I'll have to get over when I'm in a race,
yeah, consider smashes (gates), billboards, and superjumps as separate things -- not something you do during the challenges -- except stunt runs.
Wrecking takes you out of an online race much more so than the last one too, and I think the animations could be a bit shorter.
Agree here... I understand there has to be a "death penalty" for crashing, but when the adrenaline is going and I have to do nothing but wait for 5 seconds... ARRRG!
What's worse: during the crash animation, the d-pad menus are locked out. Nothing worse than wanting to re-start an event, accidentally crashing in the process, and having to wait 'till the end of the slow-mo before I can hit right on the d-pad.
Still, an amazing game. I'm looking forward to the island opening up... and then the next full Burnout game!
NoThru22 04-07-09, 10:40 AM There's still traffic checking in this game but only with heavier cars and it (realistically) slows you down.
