View Full Version : fallout 3 leveling past 20
joedirt199 02-19-09, 07:15 PM i am close to beating the main quest and stopped because i hadnt found near enough places yet to be satisfied. i have the download content and it shows that i can go up in levels but i dont get any experience to do it. do i have to complete the main quest to level up further or will there be another DLC later to fix that. i heard the game ended when you beat the main quest and i want to keep finding places after the game is over.

Strangely enough Bethseda partnered with avsforum to allow its users to level past 20! All that is required is to type Fallout 3 into the search bar, and the level cap will be lifted!

pcweber111 02-19-09, 07:58 PM The DLC in March will lift the cap (well, raise it to 30).

Yes.
But in April.
(The next two DLC releases were slid back a month each.)
In the meantime, it is not a bad idea to scour the wasteland for pockets of the big bad boys and beat them like a drum; at level 20 they still offer a decent enough challenge and plenty of plunder.
joedirt199 02-20-09, 04:03 PM i only had a few more quests left. got a huge lot of stuff saved up already. does the winterized T51 armour degrade cause my helmet hasnt yet? i dont use the armour since i like to be sneaky and it is kind of loud.

I think The Pitt is in March, since it was slid back from its original February release date.
*EDIT*
Ah, I see what you were getting at. It's the Broken Steel DLC that ups the cap, not The Pitt.

If you like to be sneaky why aren't you using the Chinese Spec-Ops suit that was right next to the Winterized T-51b armor?
That outfit RULES !! :)
+15 sneak, +5 stealth field.......what's not to like about it. LOL
confidenceman 02-21-09, 05:31 PM Anyone else feel cheated by the fact that we have to pay to raise the level cap on this game? I know that's totally normal in MMORPGs and earlier single-player RPGs, but that was usually after 100+ hours of content. Most folks hit the level cap in Fallout 3 at around 30-40 hours in.
fjtorres 02-21-09, 08:32 PM On the plus side, only gamers on PCs and 360s get to go past 20. >;-)
(Yes, I'm a baaaaadddd boy.)
pcweber111 02-21-09, 10:58 PM Ha I totally forgot that the DLC had been delayed. Yes, April is the time frame now, my bad. Can't wait for it either.

Not really. I finished the game at level 19 on my first play through, so it seemed to be about right to me. I suppose if you suspect raising the level cap in the DLC was a premeditated marketing gimick all along, then that would seem kinda slimy. Usually I'm pretty cynical, but I assume raising the level cap was just a necessary thing to do when adding more game play. In either case, it's hard to feel cheated with all that the original game offers.
Just my opinion.
Hannzo24 02-22-09, 11:43 AM I think we all have to come to terms that DLC will not be free and it is planned from the get go. It's just a fact of modern day gaming.

I agree. It is not like you have to pay for it. I received significant entertainment for my investment in this game...
