I have a few days left in my return window from BB for my 6100, and im really wondering if i should just go ahead and get a 6500... has anyone had both and is the difference really worth the extra 1000??? im happy with the 6100 but if the blacks are THAT much better i may be persuaded to go with a 6500

There's actually 2 things that may be worth the $1000:

1. better blacks
2. piece of mind :)
I have the 6500 and it's blacks are so impressive. Be prepared to paint your walls dark. With blacks this good, ambient light is the devil!
