Just had a couple of questions about the xbox to clear up a debate with a friend of mine...
1. does it output games in native 1080p like ps3?
2. does it internally decode or bitstream truehd or dts ma?
3. are hd-dvds even coded with those audio codecs and 1080p resolution for their movies

I believe these answers are accurate, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
1) Yes. Much like the PS3, only a handful of games are native 1080p, and most games are upconverted 720p. I can't find a good list though, as there's some debate over which are native 1080p and which are just upscaled 720p (for both systems). I'm sure some research would yield the info you request though.
2) Nope.
3) Yes.

1- yes, if the games are coded for it; same as PS3. Baseline rendering is supposed to be 720p but some games go higher, others lower. Anti-aliasing is very common (almost "free" in terms of resources) on 360 games so the value of rendering at a higher resolution is diminished.
3- HD-dvd movie coding is essentially identical as BD. Both specs copied from each other, feature-wise. Both use the same codecs, same resolution, etc. Minor variations in audio.
Here's some details:
