Can someone recommend an RF Remote that will work well on my Directv HD-DVR - HR21-700? I've got the receiver downstairs and am trying to contol it from upstairs... the range is poor and it barely works. Is there a better remote or a suggestion to get the DirecTv RF remote to work better?

the only RF remote that will work with that receiver is the Directv version, which it sounds like you have. you could install an i/r repeater system and program the remote to work via I/R. this would require a Cat5e from the basement to the room that you want to control.
or you could try relocating the receiver to a spot were it will work better with the remote you have. i have no trouble in my house controlling the receiver in the basement from the 2nd floor guest bedroom. it sounds like you may be getting some kind of interference where you have your receiver mounted.
Right, at this time the only remote to control a Directv receiver in RF mode, are the Directv RF remotes. In a couple of months a universal remote under the Acoustic Research brand will be able to control Directv receivers set to RF mode.
If the receiver is in IR mode, many Universal RF remotes will be able to control it, and possibly further then the Directv Rf remote.

I've got an MX-800 and MRF-200. Maybe it will work for me... if I can figure it out that is....
