How do you take a camcorder and hook it up to your PC so you can display in real time what the camera sees on your PC screen?

I only have to plug in the camera to the TV to get it to work on there. Is there a program that I need to open up?

Also, how do I use a camcorder as a webcam, like in paltalk or aim?

thanks

I have a Sony DCR-SR45

You can't directly, unfortunately. The older generation of tape camcorder has firewire port which allows you to do that. With the tapeless camcorder, firewire transfer is no longer necessary, and obviously, it is the first feature to go in the bid for cost saving.

The only way is to use the AV out (the one you use to hook up to your TV), and use a video capture card in the PC.
