Hi everyone, I have been searching for some feedback on the new Universal MX-6000 remote control but I cannot find anyone who owns one. I am specifically curious about it's build quality, ease of use (programming if possible by the non-pro), and how well it interacts with the Lutron RF switches that have been released for it?

I had a local installer try to sell me one back in October and he says that he still does not have one for me to look at. Does anyone?

Thanks in advance, love this board!

I am in the same area. I am stuck between the mx-3000 and mx-6000. The only thing that i thought i would use was the music server control over wifi.
What is the price suppose to be for the mx-6000?

Lists for $1500. PSX1 $350. Various URC base stations, $150 - 800. URC/Lutron dimmers $150.

The MX 6000 is released and shipping, has been for a while.

Thanks fletch999.

Do you own one?

Do you have an opinion about the MX-600 versus the TSU-9600?

I don't. I am not a fan of two handed controllers personally, but have used the 6000 briefly, and it is a very good remote with a nice feature set if you like the form factor. Haven't used a Pronto since the 6/7000 days and they left such a bad taste I wouldn't use them again. Plus the form factor is not my cup of tea.

He means the size and shape of the remote. Mainly the fact that you have to use both hands with it (as you do with most touchscreens). I've used the TSU-9600 briefly and the MX-6000 a little more. The TSU-9600 has a higher resolution screen in its favor. Software for each is somewhat similar and quite complex unless you're used to these types of remotes. Build quality of each is similar, but URCs are a little tougher in my experience.

The MX-6000 (or just about any other URC RF remote) works well with the new URC/Lutron dimmers. They're basically Lutron Maestro dimmers with an RF receiver bulit in, so they can be controlled (with multiple scene setups as well as independently) from anywhere in the house.

You can get more info on any of the URC Complete Control series remotes in the dedicated forum on Remote Central.

I had another question for alot of the owners of these remote controls. This is going to be my first purchase for a remote. I am looking at the mx-3000 and mx-6000 bc I need a touch screen bc of my father. I know the 6000 has some cool new features.
My equipment:
Denon 3808
Denon dvd-1930
Bluray player to be purchased soon
Pioneer pdp-950hd
Ps3 - soon to be replaced by mac mini
Xbox360
Would I have any benefit upgrading to the mx-6000 vs mx-3000?

Well, I don't have an unbiased opinion as I'm a beta tester for URC and sell their products almost exclusively. My personal favorite is the MX-980, but that's because I also prefer a button remote to a touchscreen.

The 6000 has pretty cool features, but I doubt I'd be surfing the web through it. I own the MX-3000, and considering that you can pick them up for around $650, I'm considering another on of them.

What I like about the MX-3000 (MX-6000 would be the same), is the programmable touch screen. For example, press the "TV" button on the main screen, and the screen changes to your tv "page". You can make that to whatever you want. So I just make a page that has the buttons I use. Unlike most other universal remotes, you have a boat load of extra buttons that just clutters/confuses the user (aka the wife :) )

It's so easy to use that my daughter mastered it when she was 5.

None of the newer remotes (MX-6000, MX-980 or MX-880) have software available on URC's site or anywhere else (legally). You must obtain the software from the dealer where you purchased the remote. If the dealer won't give you the software, give back the remote. In cases where an authorized dealer goes out of business, a receipt from them will allow you to get the software directly from URC.

Buyer Beware
I Just Purchased an MX6000 remote it has some very cool features love the PSX base which controls an ipod through the remote . It is simular in some respects yet vary different to program compared to other previous Universal Remote software versions CCP, you would have to program this remote to understand what i mean. This is a real project. Now for the bad news about this new toy i believe this remote is still to new to Use for several reasons one being the extreamily slow button response time on soft keys causing it to skip buttons if pushed to fast a real inconvience if your a fast fingured individual and hate wait time. Now for some more bad news After playing with this remote for several days i realized after several times of the softkeys freezing up causing me to have to do a hard reboot by removing the battery this is fine for the installer however for the customer a real inconvience.Anyways after all this frustration the customer decieded he was unhappy with it and wanted to return it this also was a real pain due to universal remotes not being helpful at all i went on to the installers forum universal hosts with simular complaints made from numerous others thinking with evidence in hand universal would work with me i was way wrong after three days of communications with universal rep thay told me that is the way this remote was designed to work and thay wouldnt mark it as defective to save me the two hundred re stock fee this company really sucks
o by the way i have a pronto tsu7000 that is well over 5 years old that will work faster than this hunk of sh-t atleast my opinion until this software is fixed.:confused::mad: http://daveshometheater.com
