I'm looking for an inexpensive camcorder and this one is at Newegg for $200 - Canon ZR900. I want to capture some 8mm movies on it to start, but if I'm going to get one then perhaps I'll end up using it to record some techy presentations and maybe some concerts. So, this one has a separate mic input which most cheap ones don't.

How do Mini-DVs get onto the PC and how easy is it to edit them and burn them to DVD? From what I can see, it has to be real time via firewire.
