The title pretty much says it all. I was wondering if anyone has perfected the Cine4Home mod for the AE2000. I recently picked one up for HD T.V. and Sports to go along side my G90. It looks really flat right now but I don't think anything has ever been done to it. There seems to be a lot of talk about the Cine4Home mod for it to really make it pop with great contrast.
Does the Cine4Home really make that big of a difference?
Where do you get it done at? I can't seem to get a reply from them.
Anyone do it themselves?
Thanks for all your help!

I think cine4home mod is for ae3000. not ae2000.

The Cine4home mod has been available for the whole AExxxx series, not just the AE3000. It basically involves fitting an external filter and recalibrating the PJ to use Dynamic mode, plus the filter to achieve D65. There also was an 'ultra' upgrade for the AE2000 (and maybe AE1000?) that involved disassembling the lens and adding a fixed iris inside, which improved 'in picture' contrast (their translated words) at the cost of 10% lumens IIRC.
Various AE3000 owners have tried using different filters such as the 81 series and more successfully with CC30R or CC20R filters (look in the AE3000 owners thread for more details). I gave up myself after spending the equivalent of $50 on an 81C filter and still not being able to get to D65 and I think most others have also given up. I've just bought a Lumagen HDQ video processor that will allow much greater calibration control, so I might have one last try with a CC20R filter myself.
Cine4home did reply to an email I sent and they said it would be possible to buy their filter for home installation and calibration. They said that there is more than one filter (they would match to the PJ if they did the work) so I would have to accept that it may not be the perfect match as I'd have to pick one filter. They never replied to my request for a price or how/where I could then buy this filter, hence my experiments with the 81C. You can have the AE2000 modified by them if you ship it to Germany and I was quoted approx 450 euros last year, but it may have changed now.
