View Full Version : Rebate Status for Epson 6500 Thread
theshadow1234 02-23-09, 09:08 AM Attention Epson 6500 projector owners! Have you recieved your rebates from Epson? As some of you were aware, there were a few rebates floating around when purchasing the Epson 6500 Projector and one of them was a $100.00 rebate form for those dedicated members at AVSforums.com . I sent my rebate forms in after my purchase arrived on the first week of January and I still haven't recieved any information on the status of the rebates. I know it takes a while but i just want to make a little thread to talk about the status on everyone elses rebates.
Have you received your rebates yet?
conan48 02-23-09, 11:06 AM Sent mine in first week of Jan also, and I have still not heard anything back. Epson is a reputable company. Im sure if are rebates got fudged in the mail, Epson would take care of it.
Jason Turk 02-23-09, 03:26 PM It typically takes 4-6 weeks...should be any day.
NewPannyGuy 02-23-09, 05:29 PM You can check the status of your submitted rebate at - http://epson.resolverebates.com/QuickTracker.aspx
However, it seems like you need to omit the last letter when entering the serial number else it does not display the status. My rebate status shows "In Process" (mailed on Jan 15th).
Also it shows only the $200 rebate, but not the AVS Forum $100 rebate. Probably need to call them to find out its status.
pottscb 02-24-09, 10:20 AM Wow, I bet this thread gets busy...the manufacturer rebate has just been increased to $500...2/23-3/31, I believe.
I guess Panasonic better start throwing in a free flat panel with theirs :) (I'm just an instigator!)
Jason Turk 02-24-09, 10:27 AM Yes corrrect...$500 is the new rebate but it doesn't apply to sales before 2/23/09.

I checked that link & in the box "Date Entered" it shows Feb 22
I mailed mine on Jan 8th - but it also says at bottom "Please allow 6-8 weeks from the date received shown above for processing" !
I hope this is an error.

I just noticed that mine also shows "Date Entered" as Feb 22.
GMarceil 02-25-09, 10:25 AM Just checked again- it now shows Jan 23 as date entered ?????
The current rebate form requires "the original or a copy of the UPC code and serial number label from the product box". Did you all actually cut up the box and include the original label when you sent in your rebates? How will that effect your ability to call on the warranty if you have a problem?
GMarceil 02-26-09, 10:24 AM There were 2 "stick on" labels on my box-one has the s#, the other the UPC. I removed them, stuck them to a piece of paper & made a copy, keeping the original.
smoke90 02-26-09, 12:27 PM Does the $100 AVS forum qualify on top of the $500 ?
rwestley 02-26-09, 01:19 PM No, the $100 rebate expired.
Ron Jones 03-02-09, 03:28 PM I submitted both the $100 and $200 rebate forms in mid-Jan. and received my $200 rebate check on Saturday (2/28). I'm still waiting on the $100 rebate.
tractng 03-04-09, 05:27 AM I have a question in regards to rebate. I am planning to call the local dealer to negotiate a price on a 6500UB. I am trying to put the rebate aside when negotiating the price.
Does the dealer pay (buy the item from the manufacturer) for the items more or less during those rebate promotion?
Might be a dumb question, but somehow there might be something we don't know.

You don't need to cut out the labels since only a copy is required. I simply took a picture of the labels with a digital camera and then took the print out. That is usually the best way to get a copy of labels or anything that won't go on the scanner easily.
NewPannyGuy 03-04-09, 05:56 AM I submitted both the $100 and $200 rebate forms in mid-Jan. and received my $200 rebate check on Saturday (2/28). I'm still waiting on the $100 rebate.
I had also mailed both these rebates on Jan 15 and haven't received either. The $200 rebate shows as "In Process" on the rebate status webpage and the $100 rebate doesn't even show up there. I had called their 800 no. and was told that they don't have any record of my $100 rebate and asked me to wait another week.
Can you please let me know if it shows the status of your $100 rebate? You may need to omit the last letter of the serial no. when entering it on the status page.
Both of my rebates were postmarked on January 30. I got an email from Epson on 2/26 saying my 200.00 rebate was received and in process and please allow an additional 4-6 weeks for a check.
No mention of receiving my 100.00 AVS rebate submission and it doesn't show up when I check the status online.

I was also very worried about the $100 AVSFORUM rebate, as well as the original $200 rebate. I sent mine on January 5th and hadn't heard anything back. Today I received an email from Epson rebate center stating my rebate is in process and will take another 4-6 weeks. I was especially worried b/c the rebate period was good on purchased from 12/15 thru 12/31, but I preordered mine on 12/8, so I thought for sure they would give me the old "your rebate submission is not eligible" trick.
Ron Jones 03-12-09, 11:47 AM As I posted above, I received my $200 rebate check from Epson on 2/28. I received the $100 rebate check today (3/12). So there is hope for everyone else still waiting.
Sent in my rebate forms mid January. Just got a $100.00 check from Epson. I assume this is the AVS rebate? No explanation on check or envelope from Epson? I have not received the $200.00 Epson purchase rebate yet sent at the same time?
NewPannyGuy 03-12-09, 07:29 PM For all those who have received their rebates can you please check if it shows a check mail date on the status page and if so how much time it took from check printing to mailing.
For both my rebates the status page is showing check print date of March 2 but no check mail date yet (and of course I haven't received either).
Got my 2nd check today for $200.00. already received my $100.00 AVS rebate. That completes my rebates. I sent them both in about the 2nd week of January. About 9 or 10 weeks wait.
brian_smith 03-19-09, 06:42 PM Got my rebate check for $200 today, still waiting on the AVS $100 rebate.
For those that are submitting rebates on the 6500. I just wanted to make sure I'm sending in the right information. It wants a copy of the serial number and UPC. There is a sticker on the side of the box that has the serial # and a bar code on it and then there is another sticker beside that that has model #, UPC, Product No. etc. on it. Did you guys take both of those stickers off, copy them and send them for the rebate or is there a different UPC that I'm not seeing.
bsntn99 03-19-09, 09:24 PM I put the box on my all-in-one and scanned and printed both stickers. Some have used their digital camera to take a picture and print the stickers. Just got my $200 rebate, so no problem with this. Still waiting for the $100 one.
Got my $200 rebate yesterday, still waiting on the $100 one. When I checked the status on Epson's website, both stated check print date was March 2.
SkiAlready 03-20-09, 07:43 PM Not happy about poor Epson Rebate service... I am even going on record of saying that I will never buy another Epson product in my life if they don't fix this situation.
I pre-ordered my 6500 UB from Projector People on 12/8/08, hoping that I would receive it by Christmas. I didn't want to miss out on the first shipment, because rumor was that there wouldn't be any more available until mid January or so. At the time I ordered, both Projectorpeople.com and Visualapex.com had the rebate form posted for the $200 mail in rebate stating the rebate was valid for purchases from 12/1/08 - 1/31/09 (the $100 AVS Forum rebate came up later). I went ahead and placed my order on 12/8 and received one of the first units on 12/20. (shipped 12/19 directly from the Epson warehouse). When I went to print the rebate form on 12/20, the $200 form had been updated and now said valid from 12/15/08 - 1/31/09. I assumed this was probably because the release date had been delayed and was never really confirmed until they started shipping units. I circled the purchase and ship dates with a note on both the rebate form and the receipt stating that it was a pre-order and that the projector became available and was shipped within the eligible dates. I was immediately nervous that this wouldn't matter and they would use this loophole to keep from issuing rebates to those of us who pre-ordered. I mailed in my rebate form and heard nothing until this past week... and just as I feared, I received a wonderful letter stating that my purchased wasn't made during the promotional period. I immediately contacted Epson's rebate center and pleaded my case. Although the representative acted like she understood, I was told there was nothing I could do, except send a letter stating my case. So, now I wait while they make their decision... hopefully they'll make it right, but I won't hold my breath.
tractng 04-02-09, 07:29 PM Can somebody confirm the upc code is that little sticky thing attached to the box that you can tear off that also have the s/n? Just making sure since 500 is a lot :).
tnt
Weird. I just got an email confirmation that my rebate is being processed but not for the $500.00 I submitted but for $200.00 instead. I purchased the projector on 3/5/2009 and filled out the rebate paperwork with exactness. Anyone else have any issues like this? Is this typical of Epson, trying to pull one? This and the dust blob really pisses me off. Seems nearly impossible to get anything of good quality on the first go around these days.

I got the same notice yesterday.....$200 instead of the $500. I purchased on 2-25 and submitted the rebate on 3-15. I actually took a picture of my filled out form before I slipped it into the envelope for mailing....so I know I'm not crazy. I haven't called them yet.
I had the same problem, got the email yesterday. If you call they say they will forward your info to a supervisor to have them look at it. I asked, but she said I wouldn't get any type of email or notification that I would be now getting the $500 rebate. I will call back in a day or two to make sure it says $500...it is bs that they are trying to pull this on us.
I don't think they're trying to pull on over on anybody....but it was stupid to have overlapping rebate offers with the same tag number. I talked to them today. They pulled up my rebate status and it was already tagged to be changed from $200 to $500. The lady I talked to was adding another note on the status that she talked to me and confirmed that I'd be getting a check for $500. I guess time will only tell if they get this right.

Yep, I made copies of the paperwork on my Epson Stylus printer/scanner. I just called and the CSR said their system is down and to call back in 15 minutes. What the phock!
Edited to add: Just got off the phone and Cassandra said she's sending the issue over to the supervisor to change mine to the $500 rebate. Guess we'll see what happens.
I just received an email from Epson saying my $500 rebate is being processed. I guess they did change it from the $200 so be looking for the new email everyone.

I submitted it back in Feburary, but I just got the processing notice a few weeks ago.
I got the $200 rebate status submission the 4/14 and the $500 today on 4/24. Hopefully I'll get the check before too long...I'm thinking of building a sub.
Any updates as to others getting their rebate? I called last week because I still don't see it online whenever I input my information, but when I call they say it is right there and they don't know why it doesn't work online...they say they have no control over that. Anyways, the lady I talked to last week said I should get it any day now...well that's been over a week. *Shrug*

Mine never show up on their online page, but arrived ok. Took about 6 weeks from mailing it out to receive the actual check
Cheers Peter
Bad news guys. I called up Epson just now and talked to a rude lady. Anyways she called the rebate center and they said it should be printed this Friday and then it will take another 3-4 weeks after printer for me to receive it. Mind you it has already been 7 1/2 weeks since I originally turned this rebate it and she is saying it will take another 3-4 weeks plus the rest of this week so we are looking at a 12 week hold time for rebates.
The excuse was that since it was messed up and processed as a $200 rebate originally that they had to redo the whole submission thing with the $500. Mind you I still have the email saying they received my $500 submission 2 1/2 weeks ago (from after they got the $200 rebate straightened out) and it's going to take another 4-5 weeks on top of that.
Very disappointed with Epson. She said there was nothing she could do as far as expediting it or anything. Looks like we'll be waiting for that check another month at least.
Can you still put in the rebate even though you are having issues with the projector that may involved sending it back for a replacement? I have a stuck focus ring and Epson customer service is closed at the moment. I am pretty sure that Epson would have to send a new replacement. There is about a week or so before the end date of submitting your rebate. Would it be OK to send it now? Should i send the receipt copy only and not the UPC code?
Go ahead and send the UPC and everything of it. What Epson will do is send you a brand new projector, box and all, and you can put the defective on in it. If you hold off on the rebate it or don't put the UPC in you won't get your money. Go ahead and fill it out completely, you won't need the UPC for anything.
I originally posted this in the 6500 owners forum - moving it to here where it should be:
Here is the link they sent me if anyone would like to check the status:
http://epson.resolverebates.com/QuickTracker.aspx
Note: I had to drop off the last alpha character of my serial number for it to work.
This is what mine is saying now:
Submission Type: Original Submission
Current Status: In Process
Date Processed: Apr 03 2009
Check Print Date: May 11 2009
Check Ship Date: Not available
Looks like they're bulk mailing them out.
My email said $500, but the online status shows up as $200. Sure hope I didn't wait this long just to get 200 in. We'll see.
Thank you fo the response. At this time of reading this i had aleady sealed the envelope. I took a picture of the UPC/Serial code and printed it out.
Should that be sufficent? or the only way would be the one that you sugested?
Thanks again.

It's supposed to be a copy or the original so I guess a picture would work...not 100% sure though.
Thanks for the tip pjobee, I see mine online now. I have called and confirmed multiple times and they say it is supposed to be $500. Online this is what I see though.

It is showing 2 $200 rebates for me, but only one has been printed. I may call again next week to see whats up.

I just took a pic of mine and then printed it out. They accepted it, so you should be fine. I know many other people on here have done the same thing.
Strange I am trying to do the pre-submission for a 6500UB purchased on 5/9/09 and its telling me that I purchased it outside the rebate window!
I got the message to and my purchase date was last week. I just ended up printing out the rebate and did it my pen.

billoddie 05-28-09, 02:34 PM I got the same error. I called the rebate center and they told me that the physical form has been updated, presumably to extend the rebate from 3/31 to 5/31, but the new form hasn't hit the website yet. She said I should just bypass the presubmit and send it in, and everything will be fine.

I just called and spoke to the Rebate department. She said don't mind the "$200" listed online. She stated the check was printed for $500. We'll see.
Thanks for the update pjobee...any idea on when they are supposed to ship out?

I didn't ask. You could tell the rep was having a bad day, and was trying to hurry me off the phone.
xxjoexx 06-04-09, 09:27 PM finally got the 500 today
monzsca 06-05-09, 12:28 AM Got my $500 today too!
Awesome, hopefully I'll get mine tomorrow.
graphex 06-06-09, 11:03 AM Got my $500 today! Going straight to hookers and blow (and by that I mean my credit card balance).
I mailed my rebate forms in on 4/25/09 and receive my check yesterday 6/5/09 (took 6 weeks). Hope this helps folks still waiting.
I just got mine yesterday. Glad it was the $500.
Got mine Saturday, even though the online status still showed unknown ship date as of Friday night.
Nighthawk26 06-07-09, 09:51 PM Don't know if anyone listed this earlier.. didn't go through the whole thing but it's looking like there will now be a $400 rebate WITH a free bulb.
Nighthawk26 06-07-09, 09:59 PM This wasn't even on Epsons site, but I'm in the middle of dealings with a sales guy at a local shop who golfed with the erp on Friday. I bought mine on Saturday JUST in case nothing better came along and he hinted along the lines of if something better comes we will erdo the bill to reflect it. So I searched a bit and this came up as a link on a website selling the projector.
http://www.jr.com/media/Rebates/Computers/Monitors_and_Projectors/Multimedia_Projectors/EPS12_20090731_v1_m56577569833494607.pdf
JimmyDaves 06-08-09, 05:45 PM I know I purchased my 6500 in February and mailed out the $500 rebate appropriately and as of today, still no rebate check. I think this is really bad customer service. That was one of the main selling points of this projector and to make a customer wait about 4 months to receive it is just plain wrong.
BeagleBoy 06-10-09, 09:12 PM I mailed out my $500 rebate form at the end of February, and it finally arrived on June 6. Looks like they're getting caught up, now.
Scrimpin 06-13-09, 01:07 PM anyone seen a new rebate ($400 + free bulb) form for Canada? I have seen a couple retailers advertising this promo yet Epson has nothing on epson.ca
Nighthawk26 06-14-09, 04:57 PM anyone seen a new rebate ($400 + free bulb) form for Canada? I have seen a couple retailers advertising this promo yet Epson has nothing on epson.ca
I thought I mentioned this... guess not. Read the fine print. It says US, Canada, and PR purchases qualify.
Wallboy 07-17-09, 04:03 AM Well i'm very disappointed. I got a mail from Epson today telling me this:
"Thank you for your recent submission to the above noted promotion. Unfortunately, your submission did not fully comply with the terms of this offer and some of the required elements were missing. This means that we are unable to send you your refund.
The correct items(s) required was/were:
- The original, or a copy of the UPC bar code AND serial number label from the packaging of a qualifying Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6500UB projector.
We thank you for your interest and hope that you continue to enjoy the products offered by Epson Canada Limited."
I don't understand. I had filled out the rebate form with the product serial number on the line. Filled in mailable info. Sent the copy of the invoice and also wrote down the serial AND UPC bar code on a separate piece of paper.
This is BS. How do I get this sorted out?
rwestley 07-17-09, 06:37 AM Did you send a copy of the UPC bar code or did you just write it down. I would call them and you will have a certain amount of time to send in what is missing. Call the number on the rejection of the rebate.
JimmyDaves 07-17-09, 10:38 AM I bought my 6500 in February and did everything correctly, even received an email from them in April letting me know of my submission for the rebate. Then never heard another word. Just called them a couple of days ago. They said they mailed out a rebate check in late may and that I should have received it in June. I have not. It is now mid-July and have called them again. They will put a tracer on the check. If it's been cashed, they will notify me. If it has not been cashed, they will send me a new one.
I do not like this at all. February to mid-July and still no rebate check. Come on!
Wallboy 07-17-09, 03:16 PM Did you send a copy of the UPC bar code or did you just write it down. I would call them and you will have a certain amount of time to send in what is missing. Call the number on the rejection of the rebate.
I just wrote it down, where would I have found a copy of the UPC bar code? Am I supposed to rip it off the box? lol. Also there is no phone # or email addy on the rejection letter.
