Is there a way to open the disc tray in NXE WITH A GAME ALREADY IN THE TRAY? If there is no game in the tray you can do it, but with one in the tray, it seems you cannot. The only option you are given is to "play game x" There is no "eject game x" option.

The reason why I ask is that my apartment has a forced hot air system that leaves the apartment air super dry, even with the use of a humidifier. Whenever I go to change discs, touching the metal tray gives me a significant shock, so much so that I worry about my system and my electronics (since everything is interconnected).

Seems like you can do everything else with the controller, from shutting down the system to powering up to whatever, it seems odd you cannot open the tray when there is a game in there already. I know this seems trivial, but it's a significant worry of mine that I will damage my gear.

Well if you have the xbox remote you can hit eject.
You can pick one up for about $34, up here, don't know what the go for down there.

I haven't figured a way out how to do it. It was probably removed because why would you open a tray with a disc in it? If you are going to play another game you have to physically get up and put it in, on that note, why would you ever eject the tray from the remote? Aside from preventing wear and tear on the button...

Or at least that's how I'm picturing it going down in the MS Xbox division meeting.

On that note, I feel for you with the static shock. I have one room in my house no matter what I did it was static hell. I fired up the TV by hitting the power btn the and I just about jumped from the shock...

Oh, and a sidenote... have you tried taking a bowl with water and placing it over the vent? Thats how I handled the ES situation in my room.

I believe if you bring up the guide there is an option to eject, can't remember for sure but I know I was looking for the same thing a few days ago.

just touch something metal before you touch the xbox. That way you have no static shock when touching your electronics. That is the cheapest and easy way to solve the problem. but for your question there is no way in the software of the dashboard to eject the disc.

Wouldnt a rubber mat on the floor unground you and prevent the shock? Maybe lay a small rubber mat in front of the area where your xbox is?

Or like the other guy said. Touch something metal first.

I don't know of a way to do it except with the media remote or a really long stick ;)

I like using the eject button on the remote. It makes it a lot easier when changing games. Before I go to the 360 I grab the game case of the game I am removing and the game case for the one I want to play. I open the case for the one I am pulling out so when I get to it I just drop it in the case. Then I open and pull out the one I want to play and then close the 360 tray. Now by the time I put the cases away and sit down the game is already loading. It is also good for when my nephew is over and I make him switch the games. LOL

No. The problem is that he is not grounded and the Xbox is. He builds up a charge, then grounds it through the Xbox. Adding a rubber mat will do nothing.

Anyway, I open the tray all the time with my remote (Logitech Harmony) that way the tray is already open by the time I get to it with another game or movie, or I use the Open function to turn on the Xbox and boot into NXE instead of the loaded disc.

ahha, I also love the remote for opening and closing the tray.
My projector is close to my xbox, that way I enrure I have something in my such case/new dvd/game to shield my eyes against the projector :D

And I love hitting power on the remote.

Thanks guys. I didn't even realize I could map the open/close function on the XBox remote to my Harmony 720. What a dumbass I am. Everything is cool now...it works like a charm!
