Degenerazn 02-23-09, 02:30 PM From Major Nelson
After the successful run the deal of the week had last December, we’re bringing it back on a regular basis. Starting Monday, February 23rd Xbox LIVE Gold members will receive a discount on a different piece of content each week (Arcade games, Game Add-Ons, Xbox Originals.)
With this announcement of the program, I am also able to give you a tip on what the first deal of the week will be.
Braid the award winning Xbox LIVE Arcade title normally 1200 points will be available for Gold Members in all Xbox LIVE regions starting Monday for only 800 points, a 33% savings.
Braid will be available for the special price after Monday February 23rd at 13:00 GMT/0800ET/0500 PT *
Here are some details around the program:
The special deal pricing is available for Gold Members only
I’ll post the new deal each Monday morning when it becomes available at the special price
The Marketplace team is doing their best to make a Deal of the Week available in Xbox LIVE regions
*You must be signed in as a Gold Member on the web marketplace to see the lower prices
Coming later this month, Xbox LIVE Gold members will also have exclusive access to steep discounts on Game Add-ons for Ninja Gaiden II and Project Gotham Racing 4, as well as the original Xbox classic, Fable.
I knew Braid would come down in price sooner or later. Glad I'll be finally able to pick this up for only 800 points.
munkyxtc 02-23-09, 03:24 PM Thanks for the post. At 800 I'll probably pick it up. I wanted to when it was released, but I am cheap and refuse to pay more than 800 pts for any arcade games or content.
eatenbacktolife 02-23-09, 05:07 PM Glad I waited, 800 pts seems like a good deal considering the love for this game
formulanerd 02-24-09, 01:11 AM a little steep for 3 hours of fun, but it was enjoyable. bought and finished this evening.
b_scott 02-24-09, 02:06 PM worth twice the price, at least. did everything but the speed run. get it!
then, after you beat it, read up on the theories:

You got all 60 puzzle pieces and beat it in 3 hours without a guide? If so, hats off.

That's fast! Took me about 5.5hours without any help and it was a very fun experience. The story was another few hours for me to think about and try to piece together.

maybe closer to 4 hours?
about 5 hours after purchase the game was complete.... but that includes time i paused it to play/take care of my son, eat dinner, etc.
i had to check a guide for one shadow level (dont remember the name), but thats it..... i had no idea my shadow could interact with the real world like that. (where the "goomba" jumps off your head"
edit, it was the last piece on "crossing the gap"
Cygnus311 02-24-09, 07:32 PM The game is worth $30 easily.
This game is well worth this price. It is good to finally see MS making something people actually want as the deal of the week. Now they just need to do that with something I don't already have. LOL
OnlookerDelay 02-25-09, 08:57 PM I've been waiting for the price to drop on this one. The demo was impressive, but I'm not a huge fan of platformers, although it's not fair to classify this game as a platformer only. My sons were mildly interested in it after seeing the demo, but they agreed it was something they could wait on. Now that it's 800 MS points, it was a no brainer. I'll get to fool with it starting Friday, if I can tear myself away from Race Pro long enough! ;)
This game is fun and intriguing. One of those games that would be cool to play with someone else in the room as you admire the design and try to work out the puzzles.

Dont do 360 online but im going to borrow wifi to download a few games, can you compare this to another game(last 25 years is fine im old:))
b_scott 03-12-09, 02:07 AM no, it's completely unique. The closest thing is Mario if Mario was really F'ed up and could rewind time. But that's not really even close.
eatenbacktolife 03-12-09, 03:05 AM Blinx the Time Sweeper:)
Mw182006 03-12-09, 12:13 PM Picked it up on sale since I've had some points burning a hole in my account. Great game, and I barely skimmed the surface (didn't know there were stars?). It was fun having some buddies over thinking things through at the same time...got 55/60 before we finally broke down and hit the youtube. Definitely one to get for the thinkers/puzzle lovers.
Degenerazn 03-12-09, 12:53 PM This game is crazy. I can't wrap my head around some of the puzzles. After an hour or two of trying to figure some of it out, I had to shut off the game. I suppose I really suck at these puzzle games.
formulanerd 03-12-09, 12:56 PM mario brothers meets mulholland drive
Degenerazn 03-20-09, 10:19 PM Damnit, I was halfway thru all the puzzles and just lost my save. I moved my HDD over to my other xbox and it recognized it as only the demo. Well my GF started playing it from the beginning and now I'm picking up where she left off. Did it overwrite my save file? This is frustrating since some of thoes puzzles were so damn hard to get.

I seem to recall there was some issue with this title with this title reverting to demo mode. When this happens, usually if you use the account that originally purchased it to re-download it to the current Xbox 360, you'll be okay. But yes, it's likely that your save game was overwritten.
