View Full Version : Are the cheap best buy camcorders true HD? Johnny Rebel 02-23-09, 05:34 PM I know there not true HD or even HDV i just want to know what the difference is. Wilson-Flyer 02-23-09, 06:11 PM Most videophiles define "True HD" as 1080P. Most of the "pocket" HD camcorders shoot 720p which is fine but technically isn't "True HD". Can you give us a specific camera that you may be looking at or more specifically, what you're hoping to accomplish with it/want it for? I have a MinoHD that I LOVE... for what it IS. The limitations of these guys is FOV and zoom, etc. They are point and shoot and designed to live in your pocket, basically and be ready to shoot in an instant and upload to YouTube/"share with friends". Most include DVD authoring too albeit limited. I have an HG10 for serious family footage. Johnny Rebel 02-23-09, 06:30 PM Most videophiles define "True HD" as 1080P. I was refuring to the DXG-595V it claims to shoot at 1080p but i don't wish to do anything with it as i have a Sony FX7 on the way. The reviews on BB suck for that cam. I suspect people expected a $1000 HD cam for $200 and I doubt that's fair to anyone concerned. You're not giving us a lot to go on as far as its intended purpose is concerned. If you have low expectations, it should be fine for P&S. davyo 02-24-09, 09:38 AM I was refuring to the DXG-595V it claims to shoot at 1080p but i don't wish to do anything with it as i have a Sony FX7 on the way. Huh ???? I have re-read your quote about a dozen times now and I cant make any sense out of it ???? Your asking about the DXG but dont wish to do anything with it as your getting the Sony ????? Did you mean to say your asking about it but dont intend on buying it ? Did you mean to say your going to buy it but dont intend on using the 1080p function of the DXG ? If you don't intend to do anything with it, it should be fine for that purpose. The reviews on BB suck for that cam. And yes, I would agree, the poster is not giving a whole lot of information to use to be helped out. One thing I can say is the DXG cameras do tend to suck in general, there are much better choices out there for small cheap HD camcorders. Cheers Davyo |
