I have a Denon 2808CI and can't seem to get any sound out of the optical output on the receiver - to use the headphones.

Anyone got a suggestion about HDMI and these things? When I am using HDMI, I can't plug in the adapter to get the optical output directly from the XBOX. Any help would be appreciated.

buy the optical dongle/hdmi kit, or hack up your old component cable to fit.

it sounds like the denon doesn't pass audio out like you want it to... so you need to pull optical from the xbox.

Easiest way is to hack the optical output adapter.. search this forum for pics on how to. Its pretty easy tho, you just take a screwdriver and pry open the plastic case on the adapter thats blocking it.
